I'm ready for the flop, because here comes the flip! in all seriousness, the game is going to see so many changes now. We're going to be testing like crazy if they start putting out all the updates and changes they are setting for themselves in the forum. I can't wait till a few things get set in stone.
While I would LOVE to see the tweaks to reward lights and mediums who cap (50 or 75XP only if you win??) the point of the game is still fighting and it would be a little sad to see every round turn into a cap race with little combat. I'm extremely excited. Just extremely torn. Hopefully they will find a good balance to reward light/medium pilots for their roles, while still keeping the War in Mech Warrior. Chatt.
If the game is about fighting first and foremost then conquest and assault are both counter-productive. You can't have bases to capture and points to accumulate and expect people to ignore them when the penalty for losing (exp / cred wise) is so high. I really wonder why they don't have a straight up death match.
Deathmatch would be bad because there's always that last guy who is determined to not be killed. So he runs off after his team is dead and hides. People don't want to sit around for the remainder of the 15 minutes while he hides. Only way to counter that is to have re-spawns. Which a lot of people think would ruin the feel of the game. Would be nice if you had to pick 4 mechs and randomly get cycled through them maybe? I dunno. Somewhat more on topic. I still tend to run in lights and mediums. More so mediums because they don't tend to die so easily. But i really can't wait to see what they come up with to give people more of a want or incentive to run lights and do more than just kill kill kill.
Well, with 12vs12 up and running, I really like the Medium mechs much more now. they can clean up, get to places faster, and dodge some fire. They are really showing who will win in Conquest matches.
Also, like the buff to Pulses and the ERLLas buff was unexpected but welcome... it might be a bit more viable to debate the extra range at this point.
So, shit takes even longer to cap and there are 12 people on the battlefield now and pulses are better... mediums and lights got the shaft.
