Slightly confused as I've been running into matches like this all this morning: Were there only 24 players on as we just had a 3 man in meds and 9 pugs??? Not defending our tactics btw as they threw everything immediately against one of our drop points and then it was game over. Half the team died within the first 3 minutes under a hail of poptarts. PS: Forgot to mention the "gentlemen" farming pugs and boasting of their about it at the start of every match. Apparently they're the bees knees ... but only ever pilot the same mechs.
I know what you mean and I'm not surprised when I see the names. Playing PUGs the same way they play competitive bullcrap, 2 strikes each and poptarts... it's boring. But to answer the question, it seams the only functional feature of the matchmaking is the "no more than 3 of the same class in a group", which forbids us Hunchback parties (snif) but still allows 3 Dragon Slayers and a Phract.
Not to mention you had GMan and Eglar in Slayers on the opposite side of the field. That is pretty sad to see a team of HALF Victors on the same team.
Half Victors on the same TEAM? How about half Victors in the entire MATCH!!! 12 Victors out of 24 'Mechs that match, and all of them Dragon Slayers to-boot. "What? It was on sale!"
Looks like Verby needs some practice getting back into the game! Shit, I know the feeling. With as busy as I've been, playing once a week does not exactly keep you real keen on the trigger! :whacko:
Matchmaker is certainly helping to kill the game. 3-5 minutes to find a match 5 minutes to get stomped into the ground 12-2 or 13 minutes to get stomped into the ground 12-2 with the last pro Spider running around 3 minutes to navigate the fucking mechlab 3-5 minutes to find a match to repeat the process. There's nothing about this game that is welcoming to new players and no motivation for current players to keep playing. Matchmaker simply exacerbates the problem.
Slightly exaggerating but the worrying thing is that even as a generally white knight I'd agree with some of those timings. Had some close matches last night but most were overwhelming in one direction or the other as usually if one side is down in numbers or loses people quickly the other side punishes them savagly. Its the nature of the game that we play to win of course. Sort of used to the 4-5 min queue as thats normal for me. I use the time to adjust prices in Eve Online, check twitter, whatsapp etc..... or just chat on comms Of course if I do fluke into a short queue it can catch me totally off guard as I get no sounds when game isn't on focus. Its a welcome relief when I lance up as we seem to get a lot faster matches and I don't have to fight a lot of my normal opponents so the matches tend to be much closer and more fun. Makes levelling up new mechs much less of a hardship. On motivation I tend to think if you want to find a reason to play you will. I'm constantly levelling new mechs with the goal of mastering every (non gold) mech in game and having them outfitted/ready for use. It gives me a reason to keep grinding even when things are hard. For the new player I worry but at least the game is shiny and seems full of possibilities. PS: Not sure why its taking you 3-5 mins to navigate mechlab btw.
3-5 minutes if I switch mechs and need to find equipment, modules, etc. After a few matches I tend to change what I originally started with to see "what's working today"
