Has anyone done a password change request or received notification of PMs or anything from the site? I would like to hear yes or no if you have as this will help me track down some issues we are experiencing with specific email recipient domains (hotmail and AOL being two of them).
I know that I'm able to receive email from the site (tested) but I would like to hear about outside the server addresses.
The only e-mails I have ever received from the new site were the password reset stuff when I first switched over. That's it.
You can set your notifications to email you but I am more curious about the password reset emails. For some people it is working and for others not so much. Could have something to do with mail server configurations.
I'm receiving password reset notifications for gmail and hotmail... I apparently registered twice for the old site using different emails and then migrated the ancient one I've never posted on first.
Obv. got mailed when resetting the password on the new side, but can also remember getting notified when mentioned or quoted during the first days. Don't get any notifications now, though. Might have to check my settings. ;-)
I've turned off e-mail notification because the notification system on the site is sufficient. I was receiving a lot of e-mails before that.
Yeah it turns out it is the mail server that needs to have some adjustments made to it. I have no idea what all this is but I have passed it to the provider to fix when he logs on. As for the rest, I turned off default notifications for new registrants by default other than PMs I think. If they want notifications for anything else they can manually set those options.
I don't know then; intermittent... regardless I've passed it along for anyone that is trying to change their password and not receiving change request emails.
Another thing we are experiencing; the IP address associated with this new host has been blocked by many mail servers. I am working to have this corrected. If people are having issues with resetting their passwords please mail me using the CONTACT US link (bottom of page) and let me know a temporary password for the account in question and I can resolve it.
There are still issues with this however they are slowly being resolved. There is still some bounce-back from AOL and Hotmail but it is what it is; it is something beyond my control. If you are experiencing issues getting mail to your mail server you must contact your server admin and have them whitelist us.
Right. It's weird I don't know... some hotmail gets it others do not. I'm not gonna spend hours and hours chasing it down. Microsoft is a real bitch to deal with so I've submitted a white list request and will leave it at that.
