Indeed! I will say I ran out of ammo in 3 of 5 matches which was a new experience but I found myself volleying less and keeping more continuous fire on targets.
Interesting. Everybody is only talking about the AC2 nerf. But did anyone notice the Projectile Speed Nerf of the AC5/UAC5 (from 1300 down to 1150), which makes the strong PPC/AC5 combo less effective!?
Well, I opened this thread to whine about the AC/2 nerf because I hate it very much. But I think the (U)AC/5 tweak is ok, so no whine about it
Actually i didn't intend to whine about it, i find it good that PGI did something to make the meta builds work less effective.
No, remember, they nerfed HGN and Victor maneuverability. That totally means jumping straight up and firing is WAAAAY harder.
Interestingly the hit didn't seem so bad on the Firebrand but my triple AC5/dual PPC BNC-3E really struggles. Maybe the lack of ability to hit/fade and maintain a good range really hurts.
So this is viable now? http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=144&l=1bd46c89508cc6255eff3f146531d43b5db111df or this? http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=144&l=1a6523e008ae20543afc1a531a7e60e9cee882ab
I'm fine with the both nerfs, AC's are clearly some of the games most efficient weapons, even after the nerf they perform very well and are still way more useful than most other weapon systems. I also like the AC2 range nerf, as there is nothing worse than dropping on some of the smaller maps like River City on the low side and you haven't barely moved and your getting pelted from the other side of the map by AC2's, if they would fix some of the maps or the drop points then this would be less of an issue, but as it stands this helps.
not sure if serious, or... Highlanders are perfectly capable poptarts as they ever were, some might argue that they are better now with the current jump jet scaling. Equip 4 JJ and you can fly higher than ever before. Your meta is the meta that will pierce the heavens!
If that were true... how come all the pop tarters that were in Highlanders are now in Victors and allt he HGN's seem to be missile/support boats? IMO 8 tons for 4 JJ is a BIG sacrifice.
Ran out your Quintuple DD fit this evening and it certainly seems effective. One embarrassing battle when I died from letting 2 lights get behind me forcibly reminded me that I can't soak anything with the rear armour and most of them I had to be damn careful with cover as I was very vulnerable to pop tarters. Result was 25 kills over 8 battles. Most fun ride in a while.
It's only because you can't think of this: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=44&l=82f4ee0facb8d00fabb63cce9f9c1f5e9f14ded7 or this: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=65&l=09383df7547a40c197405b4ec3a0712e13af872b
Yeah the quintuple AC2 builds are fun and can be highly effective on heat neutral or cold maps but hard not to notice the difference on terra therma where fighting is very close in and background heat is higher. I find myself not firing a significant amount of each game. The good: The bad: Ok I fail I could have sworn I screen shotted TT but it was 0 kill 10 assists and 545 damage. Just couldn't get the background heat to drop fast enough so could only fire 1-2 volleys before having to stop. Frustrating! Edit: http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=6138.msg43321#msg43321 It was the match Blagg got his philanthropist so luckily he screenshotted it.
