This build is really frustrating just spent an entire match pouring out constant fire nearly as fast as I could pull the trigger. Im thinkin this should be a great match when Im done...at the end? 221 damage...
This mech you have to work SO freaking hard at to get any damage output out of it.

It has been soooooooooooooooooo long since I've played this thing. I don't even own the mech anymore. I have the SP and the G still though.

High damage or high kills are neither indicating of a good match. You can have 700+ damage and only get 2 kills because you spread out too much. As a combination of both I can happily end a match with 450~ damage and 4 kills. As I've proclaimed often now, the quick torso twist and convergence of the lasers help to do a lot of damage exactly where you need it. The only thing you should never do is be in the first line, take cover behind assaults and help them the crack open the CT of their targets.

Only saw this thread because of that post in the video guides. This isn't far off from what I've been planning for the 4P for quite some time, but didn't built yet:

hmm It's better heat-wise, but I feel like you shouldn't get too close with this build due to the high heat (even in your variant). I prefer to stay at around 300 m when I can and small lasers deal a lot less damage (i think 1 ML outdamages 2 SML at 144 meters, so past that you barely have any alpha to fire)

Yeah, if you are trying to run small lasers on something that isn't moving at around 115 kph it doesn't really work. You have to be moving very fast to get in range with those things. And at that range, the XL becomes an even bigger weakness.

Honestly, just an upgraded stock loadout works better for a straight-up brawler.

It's also a much cheaper mech to set up, so this might be a better way to go when you are getting the XP for mastery.

Yeah, I guess it plays differently compared to your version. My build obviously is better suited for harassing enemies - using the LLas on the way in, alpha once or twice with the SLas (this is quite a lot of damage in a short amount of time), and using the LLas on the way out again.

Simple really I think-the other team failed to shoot him. If you factor in the amount of time he'd spend cooling it must mean that nearly all the time he was attacking he was not getting shot up-or getting shot up poorly. Because lets face it, a couple of half awake heavies or assaults and two alphas later...
He also must have a good sense of when to engage, and when to run like hell! (I suspect this is the reason)
