are there cheating hax here on MWO? 1 got 1 shot by a ER PPC went through my arm and left torso, as you can see , it was not a headshot and nor is my other parts damaged. so he has like 5 er ppc or what. he did 303 damage that game with 1 kill no assist , any thoughts? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10972851/ihit2.png[/img]
I usually say there is more false cheating accusation than actual cheating. (damn, I was accused!) So I'll say not hack. (just for the story, yesterday a friend of mine one-shoted a spider on his first shot, it wasn't even 60 seconds, and it's not unusual) The guy is just an high alpha build (multiple PPCs) and just got lucky (and/or you unlucky) to hit you in rear CT where you have almost no armor (less than on the head!). The reason why he, after killing you, didn't score any more assists is that none of his targets were destroyed. At the moment, I've yet to see a sure cheater on this game. I had some suspicions, but never when taking shots (it's so easy to call for hack when you don't know what hit you) but when watching a teammate who's movement/positioning/everything sucked and still took precise shot (and even that is not proof).
It rather seems he got a lucky convergence on your rear left. Once your torso is destroyed, the arm is also destroyed and so is the engine. With the current state of HSR I've also often seen shots from the back damage my front so it could very well pass through your arm to hit your torso. Apparently the chronological order of destruction is top to bottom, since you'd be damaged by ER PPC first before anything is destroyed, and as you can see left torso is first. I don't know why it shows 303 damage in that case, probably from all the destroyed weapons and internals but this is all speculation. H4xx0rz are not excluded from the possibilities but there are other explanations.
There are hacks, of course, no game is immune from them. In this case I'd just suspect an alpha of such immeasurable destruction that there is no possible way you would have survived the strike
All this damage don't come from this only shot, he shot other mechs after this. Shot from the back hitting front does seem more like an hitbox problem than hit-detection problem (it's very frequent on the jenner for example, especially when hit by missiles/streaks, more than the other mechs I pilot). Though there was this problem with PPCs hitting from front but still damaging the rear. I think it was solve (but I don't use a lot of PPC). PS: 5 (even 6) ERPPCs is possible on a stalker. But rare, most PPC boat now load 4.
Well, that Stalker is probably having 5+PPC. At optimal range with good convergence (requires armlock) you can kill a ligltly armored mech in one shot with some lucky crit! Basically you got crit in your back side torso, and the engine goes boom! (You have an XL, right?) That is the reasson why high alpha builds still exist. One lucky shot and there goes a mech. I don't think it is hax though, but he surely is lucky to have pulled that off. I am sure he gets quite a few component damage also, but it is not shown.
I was surprised by this one the other day. I have 38 armour points in my front center torso of my Cicada, and had not taken any weapon damage up to this point. I want to think that the guy wasn't a cheater, but reported the incident regardless. It might've been a bug, he might have been a cheater, or I might have been very unlucky.
Just a friendly reminder. Unless you have undeniable evidence, please do not accuse anyone of hacking/cheating. I have to agree with the above comments of high alpha builds, and getting that lucky shot. It has happened to me more times than I can count, quite happily running along, taking shots at the rear flanks of the other team, go flying past someone, not seeing someone laying in wait, and pop, I fall over. It is the risk we take when taking out a light/medium mech, we can get one shoted from behind by a ppc boat.
Just to clarify my position here. No, you have not accused anyone. I am giving the reminder to everyone that this is not a place to name and shame people for hacking/cheating. Nor is it a place for throwing around accusations. I do come across as a big overpowering, and I am sorry if I am causing confusion or concern, my only intent is to remind everyone of the rules.
Thank you for the reminder, i didnt want to accuse anyone thats why i made this thread to get opinions on what happened and maybe help the devs if there is any bugs out there. The Replies were very helpful I have to admit. It was a very lucky shot lol.
The reason that this was brought up, Marcti, was because your screenshot very clearly names the individual who one-shotted you. If you look at Xadhoom you will see the offending users name has been obscured. This helps prevent any implied accusations etc A simple oversight on your part, no big deal
