Decided to try something new. Loving the XL340 speed on the Firebrand, feels amazing moving so fast and being able to run up a hill to get shots (and backing off hills as well). You can strafe a target and keep the UAC5 on target during the LPLas cooldown and for heat management. If you are continuously firing within 500m and run out of ammo in the UAC, you probably scored a 900+ point game. It is performing extremely consistent and is the best feeling build I've ever made for a Jager IMO.
While I've warmed up to the LPL a bit since I bought the arrow, I feel that you're wasting a lot of potential tonnage on them. 7t for something that is almost outdamaged by 2x ML and you have energy slots a plenty. In my version I downgraded to even shorter range MPLs, but mounted an extra UAC5. I would probably run 4x ML instead but that left too little slots for FF. You lose a lot of range though, going from 350m to 220m is a big step (which is why I'd prefer regular ML for having 270m).
The LPLas are what make the mech good at range, not the UAC in this case. Being able to hit pin-point without worrying about ballistic travel is a huge advantage. The UAC is an added extra punch that you don't rely on considering the jamming mechanic. Just a few of the matches with it today in rapid succession. Just one after the other after the other. The speed and range allow this mech to perform very well on any map.
Such a simple Build and incredible how you could dish out so many highscores in chain on the Battlefield. Are you cheating? Firepower-Upgrade Mod (just for the case you need the Alphastrike or losing Arms):
Very nice scores there, Solahma! Still, you could go FF to mount AMS in exchange for 6 armor Or 3x LL? Heat Efficiency for 3x LL isn't through the roof, but dropping FF for 2 ML and 2 DHS doesn't help as much as you'd think. The added benefit of having some weapon when both arms are shot off (happens more often to me than I'd expect) is also pretty swell. After checking the weaponlab, LL outdamages LPL DPS-wise from around 430m onwards. LPL's burntime is nice when taking potshots though. I'll try the build(s) out for myself as well, instead of PPC/AC5 cheesing it up as usual.
DERP didn't even see my slot count... I guess that's not very min/max of me Will edit with FF build soon. EDIT: I updated the build with FF, more leg armor, and another DHS to stay as close to the original build as possible. The AMS looks like the best use of the FF tonnage though so I might add that as well. I will try the 3x Large Laser version sometime, looks interesting. However I will note that another benefit of the LPLas is the extremely short discharge duration in comparison. You are dealing a lot more damage in a shorter amount of time to a much more precise area. It is also a lot more subtle of a beam and draws less attention. With that said, Firing 2 Large Lasers with the UAC5 will probably work just fine. That third would be handy for an occasional alpha strike or for temporary DPS. I'll definitely give it a shot! I can testify to the builds effectiveness even when we lose... though that might be the pilot (Solahma) more than the mech.
IDK man, seemed really easy to pilot IMO. Just take 100% advantage of the high arms and hug hills. That speed makes it SO easy to hug hills.
