Where? Another new set of variants coming

My way to see it:
1) Free mechbay(and machbay discount) is to encourage prople to buy more mech, and hopefully buy more stuff with MC. Makes sense cause currently you have to pay TWICE to get a hero/Champion. If PGI would give free mechbay for Hero/Champions then they may sell better.

2) The free CN9 early on is there for the same reason, PLUS they want people to buy champs. I guess not many people buy champions (at least I haven't done it ever) since they are technically the same as normal variants in all aspacts, only being faster at leveling. Then again champions cost them zero development cost. Basically they are just "cut n paste" of the normal mech, with the voted settings from the forums (or maybe even settings taken from us mechspecs?) and then slapped with a bonus. You don't even get any new geo/cockpit/color/pattern/decal. Not attractive unless youa re need and need a mech filled quickly.

 

I see it as a reason to get people to sign on, and tell their friends to do likewise. The game is a minefield of ways to spend money, and active users spend infinitely more than inactive ones.
