Take a deep breath, step away from the computer and do something else for a bit. This is a game not a sport. You need to get your head around the simple fact that this is a game that you should be playing for FUN or to challenge yourself not an esport with a million dollars on the line. Solo and group queue is meaningless for anything except leveling a mech and practicing or challenging yourself. There is almost zero skill in playing a streak stormcrow - literally ZERO skill. It demonstrates no ability at all in any sphere of play. You will never develop or improve. Run in an urbanmech and there you'll get to demonstrate real skill as its so challenging. Its a strange concept I know but there it is. Challenge yourself instead of playing easy mode.
Take a deep breath... You need to get your head around the simple fact that I moderately troll and take positions to spur dialogue that at 3 times the level from what I usually think to clearly take a point. Normal level: Yes, I think the Urbie is a joke mech for play but completely agree on taking it to solo/private and having fun with it. You get a much better feeling doing well in a shit mech than doing well in a dire/stk/timber/scr/fs and I eagerly look forward to playing them tonight. Your ratio of good to bad matches is much lower than other shit mechs, however, and you ARE handicapping your team. I just hope teams have equal urbies and not 3 urbies to 3 fs's a month from now. See? Calm as can be...I don't even have a streakcrow loadout I hate streaks so much. I do have 1 maddog that is 6x streak4 that I took out for 5 games last night (and I killed an urbie every single match). nice play. Granted, nobody was shooting at you (even when that zues and crab turned to you) and your team completely enveloped them and they panicked and just got shot in the barrel, that was some nice positioning and firing from you.
There are actually LOADS of examples out already where Urbanmechs are proven, indeed, to be viable! The agility and tiny stature make a decent platform. Reddit even has a post with a 1k match already! (1x LPL, 3x MLas) Soy posted a video of a 6 kill round. Sol has some great footage, as well. I thought it was a joke. I thought the trashcan would be roflstomped into the grave. However, the novelty item has quickly carved out a niche to make itself not only playable, but, successful. Yes, it was added purely for the BT Fans and novelty lulz. It can preform well, but, I don't ever see it as the try-hard, go-to for lightmechs looking for W/L score farming. But damn it if I'm not impressed!
Always the bright side with you, Chatt! So, you're saying the urbie isn't the worst light mech? I mean, on the whole, it's probably better than commandos, def some locusts but I dunno if I'd say every locust...
Well, to be fair, this is how I few so far: 1) the LL + 4xMG build I make is quite ok, being small, agine and have the 360 does help. It is not too slow for that either if you slap an XL170 in it. 2) the AC20 builds are fun, and I am going to keep one in that state (I have 4 like many of you) But seriously AC20 build does not perform. 3) as a Gauss platform like the old gauss raven it is actually acceptable. You get 30 shots. 4) You can put 2xAC2 on it. It is fun, though I am not sure if it is worth it yet. 5) want to try the 4x SPL build on the quirk, but I did not put DHS on that variant... yet (due to AC20 build requiring SHS) Only a little bit. I play at weird hours, and it takes forever to get a CW game. Kind of get counter-productive if you have to wait for more than 15 minutes for a game. Doing PUG instead in normal. I hope the LFG function can get me a bit more CW.
LT, CERTAINLY not better than LCT-1E or -3M. Better than most commandos? Sure. Jenners these days? Debatable with size and hitboxes. Spiders? Some variants, yeah. Panthers? EVERY DAMNED ONE! (35T, bigger than an FS9 and 120kph? pffft)
Play them as snipers, using the team for cover That's where Panthers really shine, chipping away from a distance rather than brawling.
I played in the Urbie Derby and it was fun. It's crazy how slow a std60 feels - you pretty much just hope your team is in a position to focus fire. I thought the ac20 mech would dominate but really the lbx10 got the best games because you had more ammo and 2 lasers vs 1 to work with when your ammo went out. It'll be more fun to have 24 urbies with decent loadouts, though, to make it a bit more skill based...
Urbie is the best with an XL170, blasting around with small arms fire with that 360 action. Stock STD60 is fun, but you are not going anywhere, so to say.
I like XL 170 too, can use it in a few diff builds for it. Just for fun though, haven't critically looked at the mech yet, if at all since it's Urbs.
Interestingly except one disastrous match which was stacked with people like Heimdelight Solahma Writhen etc etc etc etc etc etc I've got at least 1 kill in every match in my 6 so far - 2 kills in two of those 6. Not passed approx 440 damage though and they feel so insanely delicate. That said I literally have no xp on these mechs so....! So far ran 3 matches in the UAC5/2 ML and 3 in the LPL/3ML. They are ridiculously slow when faced with stormcrows
So far, things that seem to work for me. 1) 4xMG + 2xLL. So obvious. 2) ML+AC10. While AC20 is fun but not functional, this one is cool. 3) 2xML+LBX10. Funny that this can work better than I would hope for. 4) AC5+4xSPL. Yay!
