http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/168391-st-ives-blue-vnd-1sib/ “I remember the day I first met Blue: Dad was piloting her, laughing at me over how awe-struck I was. I was blinded by the light of our sun as it reflected off the silver trumpet on Blue’s chest. That reflection soon became a source fierce pride as I was told of the herald of St. Ives being known across the Confederation and beyond, and I was told that she would be mine. At that moment, I made a promise to my father that if I ever got to pilot Blue: I would only ever use her to protect the innocent and to defend St. Ives: And now I must decide if I will keep that promise… If I will keep my pride…†-Pilot’s Log - Mjr. I wasn't that interested but I admit I've picked one up after seeing one in game. Would have preferred it a bit smaller as it looks slightly larger than the blackjack. Running around atm in as the wub wub just fit: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=205&l=e10e5d73c5d454b91b798ba8ac4663888124f97d
Just in lance now so the medium laser bit the dust for a Tag and we're being plain nasty laying down the law. Fun mech so far.
Still looks like a bigger brother of the firestarter to me. Silly that its a hero that comes with no cbill related upgrades (endo, ferro, DHS, XL engine). You'd buy the mech and immediately dump 7 million cbills into it. And it makes use of an uncommon XL250 that is the same tonnage as the faster XL255.
Couldn't agree more e92 tbh. The lack of upgrades was quite painful as it cost me more to outfit the one mech than all 3 of my direwolves added together.
My take... Remains to be seen how effective the extra 5% cooling on missiles and energy would make it. Not really overwhelmed by this or the standard variants' selection of hardpoints or limited max engine size though. 'Pursuit vehicle' maxing out at less than 99kph.... http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=205&l=6cd6d7589203db9c6f4f109c3fdc1acb3caadb40
too slow only 3km/h more then a SHD 2K with an XL300, that will have 10T more and 1 more M HP, plus the option to strip the arms...it does look Amazing tho.
[member=3871]e92[/member] yout wont have to be that much faster to chase down clanner lights... (as soon as CW is implemented) ...and the VND-1AA version can take a XL295 - which means 116 kph. (maybe something like this VND-1AA if u want to go for Clanner-Lights) Im just disapointed that there is no ECM version.
Im COMPLETELY dissapointed with the engine ranges. 100-250 is a complete joke for so little hardpoints. I was eager to buy this hero, but, looking at the best config i can fit for its weight, im now enraged. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=205&l=5886985bd8f1f6f1adbf8fe34e32fb6911f250e7 This same payload, or less, i dont care, should be moving at 120kph. My hopes are gone. Not buying it till a 50% offer, and even then depends. EDIT: just checked in the mechlab the engines.....3 diff ranges in a single chassis?? Seriously, WTF did have the guys in PGI that made that stupid choice in their brains? Its quite obvious that not a minimum logic.... Now we need to buy 3 XL engines to level a chassis, cause all them are rare (XL250, 235 and 295)....Its a joke, but its not a funny one   Also all them comes with 1 hardpoint in the head, the variant with ballistics comes with 3...in the same arm. "Funny" part of it is that it actually looks like the best of all 4 them Next hero would come with 2 weapons hardpoints in the head and 3 in the center. Now that PGI started joking on us, just go the end. This is what i get for having faith in PGI releasing a good IS mech b4 the last clanner comes for CBills
Already left my mark in the subforum for these guys. While I haven't bought any new hero mech, I've found a lot of joy in theorycrafting for them...when they go on sale, I might pick up this and the Anansi, just to see if any of my ideas would actually pan out
I'm confused Auriga the H energy slot is really good with JJ. I'm jumping up and tagging for my lance with minimal risk - incoming wall of lrms nails the target. It helps a lot that I'm on comms calling the targets as they're waiting for my call. My setup is also great for taking down the opposing scouts and can still put down a nice chunk of fire. Don't get me wrong I'd love clan weapons on it but thats not going to happen. I was running a ML in that slot but the tag has ensured I'm building up very nice c-bills with the mech so even solo queue I have left it in. Its a good mech so far with two reservations - like a blackjack if you hesitate or show too much you are wide open and it feels slightly too large. If you like blackjacks I can't see a reason why you wouldn't like these mechs. If you refuse to play any medium except easy mode shadowhawks..... then it might not be a good choice. Thats more to do with the SHD than anything else though. My main bugbear is that my opposite number is often in a Stormcrow.... forces me to use my brain but it can get painful if solo rather than with help. If mediums are your thing like me all I can say is its a fun mech so far.
For safe grinding you can try this here as a light Medium Missile Supporter: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=205&l=c3429e858f016e436b92c6370991c395a1229ef9 As a Missile Boat Bodyguard: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=205&l=93e6f55aca5adc32a93fec44c14a9d9acaf5be20
Vergere is right. Everything this guy can do even the Weak Trebuchet can do better. Not worth the MCs.. As a C-Bills Variant ok for Fun Matters.
It does feel a bit off, it's a pretty big target profile for a 45 tonner. I will see what it can do ingame before final verdict but I'm not impressed on paper and by first view ingame.
Maybe it'll be more useful with drop weights? If PGI ever get around to that. Although I find it mildly funny that Sarna lists the name as "St. Ives Blue", which PGI's website uses too... but the MWO client has it as "St. Ives' Blues". Nice to see PGI being consistent... Anyone got any info on the quirk's effectiveness? It looks like it should be about the same as two extra DHS for energy/missiles. Just wondering if that translates to reality in game.
