Just playing devil's advocate here now: The mentions above could allow for a re-edition of the gold Kahns,... That sale was a limited edition with a limited amount of mechs for sale at that time. Nothing excludes a new limited edition with the gold mechs (unless if it has been written somewhere) For the Phoenix pack they specifically stated they would NOT be available again. So even the vote is essentially invalid.
Interesting @Solahma I never paid attention to that before so had never seen it. The way PGI would get around that would be to say "Those were limited editions that were for sale in limited quantity... Now, we are going to fuck you in the ass once again with a Standard Edition and Unlimited Quantity". They will strip a few stats here and there, slap some gold lipstick on the pig and ship it to market. Are any of you guys really surprised at any of this? I mean I can understand a little discontent but really? PGI has always had opinions and road maps that shift according to need; "It was our position at the time". They follow a very cloak and dagger business model, once I can only describe like this... Business is like the two way mirror in a police station; the company can see everything that goes on and implement changes that affect you. They can even, should they choose, stick up their middle finger at you. You may feel the effects but will never see who implements these changes or really why they were done. You, the consumer, only see what they want to see; a reflection of your own preconceived notion of what the product/service is supposed to look like.
It would be interesting to see what their sales have been like for each pack. I'd bet the Phoenix pack sold very strongly because it was new and looked to be a good deal. The Clan I, though, seemed to piss some people off, coming out much earlier and at a higher price point than expected, though I'm sure it sold decently due to the novelty of having Clan tech. After that, I'm guessing Clan II, Clan III, Reinforcement I, and Reinforcement II haven't gone so well as people are getting burned out on having so many packs come out so often.
Well, I have 45 points only on the leader board for Battlemaster, and I am at 1700ish in rank. So there are at least 1700 people that are active with Phoenix packages. I know there are people with a la carte but there are also ones without top tier, so the numbers should be close. I can safely say that those 1700ish people above me are also most likely the ones in the Battle fo Tykhhkkk. Granted, I do know many who do not play CW cause of the long wait, I myself only did the minimal for that hanging item. So basically, we are a group of loyal players here, but also there may not be lots of new ones playing with the events here, and anything else. Aka, we need new meat.
People are so bitter - I voted yes because these have been c-bill available for so long that if it brings extra money into the developers coffers its good.
I also voted yes for reopneing Pheonix, though it doesn't seem to matter. If enough people griped, I'm sure they could find a way to reopen a second run, change the tag (P2) to differentiate it, and throw a bone to the original buyers. Pretty much no solution can be perfect there and they kind of shot themselves in the foot for bringing it up at all...opinions from buyers vary along the spectrum of "let the other kids have it" to "YOU LIED TO ME! I BOUGHT EXCLUSIVES *foaming at the mouth*", and with varying degress of conviction. For me personally, it's no skin of my back either way. As far as I'm concerned, I got what I paid for and am fine with others getting the chance at the same package, or at least a very similar one. I do think having tried to rebrand or relaunch as Phoenix-Resistance (Resistance 0.5? Phoenix 1.5?) for the new pack would have been their most damage control while bringing in more revenue, though, and is sort of a missed opportunity. New badges and titles, alter the geometry and colors if you need to, but give a second shot at faction colors / bronze medallions and loyalty/CBill boosting mechs. Folks who missed it get a shot at something close, folks who want uniqueness get to keep it, and some folks will buy again for any mix of reasons. Someone's always going to complain, but that's not an excuse for "but I had no idea it was going to start a class-flame war!" And hell, if they really wanted to up the ante, make the nu-phoenix a DIFFERENT VARIANT. Add the now-released additional variants beyond the original three as pack upgrades and early incentives. There are options, is what I'm saying.
@Solahma, your earlier posts suggested otherwise. If you don't care what happens surely a vote that would bring benefit to the game in the form of another revenue stream is worth a vote? #EveryVoteCounts
Considering that Reinforcement I had "Here order now and get these bonus modules added!" and Reinforcement II had "Buy the big package, and if you got the other big package, we'll throw in FOUR MORE MECHS!" I think you might be on to something. And FWIW, I voted yes. I'm just glad they didn't pull what another company did and say, "Phoenix owners who don't vote will count as a yes vote..." (Which earned a no vote from a lot of voters who would have otherwise voted yes.)
Playing Devil's Advocate doesn't mean I voted. All I see are people upset for either vote, thus abstained. If the Phoenix packages went on sale again, I think it would become the WORST package sales ever. But I can understand that it's basically just easy money for PGI and any little bit will help the cause. But at what point to you just leave things be and not make people upset? idk.
Fair enough Solahma, I suspected you were playing devils advocate but it's not always clear in this medium.
^ I laffed. then I cried. world of tanks, played three or so years ago, I bought at tank, they said "limited" so I paid a long dollar for it........then, a few weeks after the final day to get it, they nerfed it into oblivion. 6 months later, reselling it... I wont pay extra for anything, ever again. They're whores. I think I've given PGI about 250 bucks in the last couple of years..no more
Yes, Type 59, my crew was, is into its fourth skill sets. bought 3 camo skins for it too! Now, when I see another one, no way to know..but in the day, good lord, they drove fear into the hearts, like rounding a corner back in the day in you hunchie and running headlong into an atlas... Which, back to PGI, they could create a...what, some other obscure named mech, sell it for money. FORCING those nimtards to now buy all, cause, they know for SURE they'll never be back.
They could make a Phoenix-Reinforcement Pack: With one new Variant for each chassis and two options: Phoenix owners can get the new Variants. The others can get a full pack including the old 3 ones (no P edition). The new Variants get all a (P) Tag or so.
NO BADGE AND TITLE for the new Phoenix packs, or at least a different one. They can have mech though.
