Found the looking for group interesting, it took me a couple of times to get into a 12 man, I got kicked twice trying to join a queue of 11, but on both occasions the leader apologised for kicking me out which was nice., but other than that the queues worked really interesting, and in most cases the group leader also lead the drop on comms.
Not much of UMAD was on during the times I logged, so, we tried to use the LFG... This event is leaving a VERY sour taste in my mouth for this feature... So fucking many people just looking for that certain number they need for the challenge, so, you'd have 4 people join the group, then 3 drop, then 2 more join and 5 drop... I think it's a great feature and will be amazing in the long run (something they actually should've added years ago) but, with everyone group-hopping trying to find their "perfect number" for a qualifying match - it got immensely frustrating! Meh. Not a fan of this challenge as a way to promote groups... It should've just been rewards for PARTICIPATING in the LFG, not for group sizes that encourage people to bounce around like this. I'm annoyed.
Well, too many people fail at communicating - probably spoiled by games like D3 where you have matches (rifts) without ANY conversation - not even a "hi" at the start.... I had several decent matches/groups where I found people who liked to talk and we formed the right group size. For this event a LFGX (X=groupsize) option would have been nice.
I learned they definitely need to allow group names - then you'd know if they were trying for a specific number of people (or outside of the challenge, whether casual or tryhard or recruiting, or if you just want to drop with a particular tag, etc.).
Yeah, this event sought to stress/beta test the LFG function, but by its nature it also incentivized a lot of the worst possible effects - random invites, unannounced kicks, mayhem, and people being left on the sidelines missing their 5 and 8 man drops.
Also, an In-Channel VOIP for the LFG ready room. Before match drops, being able to coordinate using the in-game VOIP would be huge!
well some chat-lobby would be sufficient - like a general chat channel.....in which ppl can form grps.
I think it'd be nice to have lfg groups more likely to meet eachother. It was a bit lame running into 10-12 from QQ/228 with your ragtag randos.
Since the event is over the LFG tool is more or less empty.... looks like I've to solo pug again.....
Its ok we avenged you! Our 6-7 Dudes and random pugs crushed their 12 man in CW last night ... badly. First round was 12 vs 2. In fairness they then did really well to pull back as they were playing so well but in the end they collapsed and their last person pathetically ejected under fire. Weirdly my screenshots didn't appear last night so I can't give you memento to savour and enjoy.
