One of my favorite builds. 15, 15, and 15 from each weapon group and pinpoint damage from the Gauss makes this build dangerous and versatile. Yes, you do have to be able to aim and get used to the unique firing angle the Dragon's right arm provides. This build is useful against all weight classes. Lights being the toughest. Assaults you just have to be mobile and use terrain. Learn to turn that torso to spread damage, Gauss is fragile.

I use this build for quick Fire Support, Skirmish, and some Sniping. Someone calls out they need help and I run over, find the red armor on a Mech and finish him off.

I use a similar build on the 1N because of the two missle slots but the 1C has an abundance of laser slots to allow for some options.

In this build I have ended up with 7 Kills and solo'd the last 3 mechs (Cicada, Catapult, and Atlas) on Frozen City. Love those buildings. All of my kills where support kills, coming in mid fight on someone who requested assistance, and that is how you play this build. Doesn't matter what you are running if you have 2 or 3 mechs shooting at you...unless their damaged and you can aim with a Gauss Rifle, SRM6, 3 Med Laser alpha.

    Cons:

You will notice that this build does not have AMS and still has CASE in each shoulder. Four Man drops has lead me to drop the AMS for now. CASE is just a conservative effort on my part to limit damage and repair costs. You can remove them and trade for the weight easily. I keep ammo pretty high as I am constantly firing in skirmishes.

Thanks for the build, WitchZero! I've been using a modified version with solid success today -- the only difference is I keep the AMS due to over-prevalence of LRM boats + TAG spotters; and put all the ammo into one torso and slipped in a CASE there. So far, I'm strictly PUGing.

Nice build! In fact, I run an exclusively missile-less build in this configuration apart from the 4th medium laser. With the spared tonnage used for armor and heat sinks and a total of 4 tons of Gauss rounds, mine runs a heat efficiency of close to 1.5. It NEVER heats up unless you do battle in the caldera of caustic and don't ever move out of it. This mech alone has (to date) given me close to a million XP because I love it and use it so much. It isn't easy for many to get used to the very flexible Gauss canon mounted in the arm but it sure can do wonders in battle. Since this is very close to what I run, I can swear by it based on the role and tactics I execute with this mech.

Don't forget to keep an AMS system on it as well if you don't have one on it yet.

My other build is a FANG with the only major difference being the LB 10-X AC

I would like to point out that with an XL engine, CASE does nothing, as if your side torso is destroyed, your engine is destroyed. Your death prevents damage from moving inwards, making the CASE redundant.

I'll be running this as soon as I get the credits for a XL300 together. I'd probably remove the CASEs tho and add either a fourth ML, or another heatsink.

Until they bring repair back in, combining CASE and XL engines is not worthwhile. If the ammo is hit, you'll still lose the side torso compartment and the engine with it.

Also, gauss ammo does not explode, but the gun itself has a 1 in 3 chance to.

When I have an XL engine, I often put SRM/AC/AMS ammo in the head, as it's the most difficult location to hit (and the bin is exhausted first). However, the tiny side torsos on the Dragon will probably work just fine for storing the SRM ammo.
