SO here is the concept, a jumpy assault (or just an uber heavy) that has both long range and short range weaponary. I am still thinking of getting the Dragon Slayer, but not sure if it is worth the MC. Just checking if this is a good build first. After all, it is MC, not cbills. I already have the 9S and going to get a 9B. Just trying to get the 3rd, so it is between 9K and this. And no worry, I will buy it at discounts only anyways even if I do want to buy this, so take your time.
I am in the same situation, but I already mastered both the 9K and the 9S. Both are great mechs, and the DS seems to be very similar to the K. However, double ballistics speaks for itself and when the Dragon Slayer will be on sale I've got a problem. As for your build, this is how I'd modify it. First of all, the DS already comes with an XL330, so this seems to be a natural fit. Additionally, from my experience 2 JJs are enough for high mobility, freeing up space and weight. The AC ammunition might be a bit low, but given the powerful secondary weapons 5 tons might be sufficient.
Might I suggest; The second LL increases your range greatly over the MLas, dropping one point of damage for one heat in addition. Moreover, moving your energy weapons into the torso reduces the risk of losing a powerful weapon on an extremity. This is very similar to the way I run my 9B and is brutally effective. Just a suggestion to increase range and reduce exposure to enemy fire. Also simplifies weapon groups to cohesive ranges. I've run with 90 rounds for dual AC/5s and it runs dry pretty quick, however, 120 seems to be the sweet spot. Rarely runs out and on those occasions, I can't remember an instance before the last one or two enemies. Then you still have a solid 18 point pinpoint and 16 point shotgun. Runs well for me.
Nice! I will try that when slayer is on sale. Also thinking about this, but I think it would be another build.
