I used to run Wildcat BBS, then RaBBS then SuperBBS back in the day. Wildcat was run on an 8088XT with a 20MB drive and then I upgraded to a huge 40mb drive lol All fed to a blazing 2400 BPS AT&T Modem
Ah, good old days where I have to kill my sister for picking up the phone while I am running the BBS (it was also the fax line and backup phone line). Oh, and all things considered hit detection is not too bad really back in the days of DooM. Well, at least it is easier to hit someone in dialup DooM than nailing someone in a jenner.
i dont think you really want to age check man, lol. The original fan base of this universe is getting older. And if we want it to keep going still we need the younger crowds getting into it as well. but ya i think we can all mostly remember the days of "you've got mail" and making sandwiches when you're trying to download just a picture. Silly kids getting mad at their phones for not loading shit in .2 seconds. Try using a beeper kids and actually having to look at a map to figure out where to go instead of using GPS.
I'm not even that old, but, damn guys! You're making 28 feel like 40! Technology moves too fast... I do agree, HSR seems to be getting worse with each patch instead of better. The saddest part is that it seems a player with a lower latency is penalized more! I usually run 30-50ms and players with 200+ will blow me to bits in a light after I watch 150-200 damage with of ammunition land on them and barely scratch their armor. My connection is better, therefore, they should get a latency buff and be able to ignore damage?? Ugh... Still love the game, but, it gets frustrating and doesn't seem to be improving at all.
I have to run a pager at my job, but most of the tech here is based around 2005. Fuck Idaho. I had a silly game VS a catapult last night. He only had 2 small lasers, but He could not hit me whenever I moved. I did have his small laser cycle down to a T, but he barely hit me. Even when I was first running against him, I just dodged his LRM40... it was quite bad.
I think you must have a sense of humor about stuff like HSR cuz if you don't whew, man, the gloves come off when it comes to bashing this game for some people in a bad HSR rut during a play session. Gotta take it in stride, happens to everyone (more or less [which is the actual painful part]).
I live less than 10km from the actual server with a 26 ping and I swear to Christ last night Helen Keller was in charge of my 3D. It got to the point chain fire does more damage than alpha striking due to the law of averages.
Yeah we have people who are developing taboo routines due to HSR like, say restarting clients after a match with more than 1 or 2 HSR 'misses' We have a guy who bought a diff modem to see if it will help at all Personally, I just like to make fun of it from an absurdity standpoint cuz it helps me mellow out over the truly sad notion it actually implies (fail net coding). You can't really do ANYTHING about it, so, what's the point ya know? If it bothers someone that much in the moment, maybe they should log out and find something else to do, cuz they can't wave a magic wand and fix it. If they could, PGI would've already.
Whenever an alpha strike doesn't register I simply tell people over TS3 that MWO has decided I failed my gunnery skill roll.
LOL, critical miss! You shot your own foot! im diggin the new signature you got there to Michael. looks like a bumper sticker.
Oh my god. Just about fell off my chair laughing. My boss (who also plays) looked at me like I was crazy, so, I read it to him. Same response. lol
