Different weapon options

    I got to thinking: We may need more weapons in time but what about weapon modifications? For instance, varying choke options for the LB10X for a tighter or looser spread of pellets like a real shotgun?
    Or an option to increase the power of lasers but it also increases either heat or duration of the beam. Or perhaps a type of LRM that gets rid of the minimum distance but also a largely reduced maximum range?

    All just ideas but you get the point. What mods would yall like to see and/or if this would even be a possibility?

    I find it better if they add the rest of the inner sphere weapons soon. What they can do as next step is adding different Ammo.Types. The Option to modify Weapons is too early imo.

    For the next weapons i wish:

    ERMLas
    Light PPCs
    LB 20-X
    Ultra-AC10
    MRM-10

    All of the ER lasers.
    Streaker SRM 4/6 for sure
    Might as well add all the variants of UAC and LBXs since they have two variants already.
    Would they also simplify ammo: simply AC ammo, UAC ammo, or LBX ammo - not sure if they would do it....?

    ER, Pulse, Ultra and LBX, Gauss and even XL engines was all Clan tech from what I remember. Or at least re-discovered around then.
    Funny to limit some of these things now.

    Did I mention Light Gauss? Give me a Blackjack with two Light Gauss. Please. Pretty please?

    1/2 weight, 1/2 damage? I'd love it. Say 7T, 7 damage, 600m range with a 2.75 cooldown?

    There would HAVE to be some sort of limit though... I don't want to see a JM6-DD running 5 or 6 of these at 7-8T a piece. o_O

    Rotary Autocannons (But probably not the right time yet, legionaire special if I remember)
    Ultra-AC10 (Fo all the huge mechs)
    Light PPC(Oh yeah)
    Light Gauss (would not be unbalancing, cause I think they use the same ammo as Gauss, meaning they are expensive to run if you have 4x of them)
    LB 20-X (Oh yeah shotguns!)

    MRM (this would be wonderful)
    LRM hot loading (ignores minimum range)
    Streak SRM 4/6 (Like it or not they are coming when the time is up)

    Mortars and other artillery weaponary. Especially fun now that people are packed together.

    MELEE WEAPONS! (axe and swords and mace) We can have an Axeman then. Oh and YLW would get what he is worth.

    Triple Strength Myomers is a must for that reason.

    I really want to see the Light PPC, especially if they make it w/o the min range and especially if the fire rate is decent. However, that's 17 years in the future.

    As far as 'current' tech goes, I want to see melee weapons and TSM.

    I sadly want less. I like the 3025 era, but I'm an odd duck. The more beyond 3050 the tech gets the less it feels like Battletech to me.

    So I guess the only thing missing to me I want is Hatchets.

    I'd like to have the weapons already in game balanced.

    Then add all that I've seen mentioned in the thread so far. All of them look like they'd be fun to try out at the very least.

    I think that a better variety of weapons would be the answer to that exact viewpoint. I feel the weapons in-game are quite balanced right now. The only thing that is extremely OP is the 2xPPC & Gauss combo that so many heavies/assaults carry. If there were more options, I think that the frequency of these builds would be reduced. I don't think simply nerfing powerful weapons is the answer. These weapons are supposed to be powerful. That is their role. Those mechs carrying them are supposed to be massive weapon platforms. They all have counters and downfalls as is. The Poptart Sniper is a role that should be in-game. However, with more options for weaponry, other mechs may fair better against them.

    I feel SRMs are finally a viable weapon, but, I'm not being dominated by them. LRMs do not seem as accurate as they used to be, but, still drop PLENTY of mechs. AC/20s are not as big of a dominating force. AC/2s actually got OVER-nerfed. Machine guns are still under-powered for Mechs, but, they are anti-personnel weapons. I feel like lasers are all at a good point. The Gauss is the only weapon I feel is overpowered at all. Again, more weapons could counter it's strengths. At least, that is my opinion.

    I want melee weapons^_^! I want Death From Above :rofl:! I remember in MW2 running around in [i'll need some help from the Old Folks here] tiny person sized mech suits. It was fun to fly up onto a mechs head and shoot them right in the face :phear:. I want that too. It would make the MGs a better option as they are great for killing those little guys.

    Battlesuits like the Elemental? While fun, I don't think they'd fit well into the MWO game-play.

    Ya its the elementals. Although they fit the idea being a man in a suit, they couldnt provide anything useful that we cant already do. If anything, they would have to give em some kind of ability that would just annoy the shit out of the rest of us.

    The MG was actually terrible at dealing with Clan Battle Armor units. Each one has armor and structure enough to soak an AC/10 to the chest and keep kicking, and that was with the Table Top rules.

We went back and forth on what maching guns are supposed to do. what it came down to is that the MW universe kinda down-plays the power of machine guns while in reality MGs can really tear shit up.
