Russ post earlier for those sensibly avoiding the main forums: The December Road Map. King Crab and Wave 2 Content - The loyalty King Crab mech along with the Gargoyle and the remainder of the Wave 2 content. Released Dec 16th patch. Special Note: Wave 2 faction skins will be place able on your special "Invasion" version of your Wave 2 mechs, however it will likely trail the Dec 16th patch by 1 or 2 patch cycles. On Dec 16th those faction skins will work with the 4 Wave 2 mechs as well as the Mad Dog. Further into the future the faction skins will be retrofitted to work with all Wave 1 mechs. Also the ability to choose your faction content should be available by the end of Dec 5th. --- Hit Box corrections - Further refining of the the Mad Dog, Ice Ferret and Myst Lynx hit boxes. The focus was on reducing Mad Dog Left and Right Torso sizes, Ice Ferret primarily better distribution between the three front torsos better protecting the CT. Mist Lynx with as much reduction on the arm hit boxes as was possible. Released Dec 16th patch. --- IS Quirks pass update – Minor update to change or improve upon the original pass. An example was changing the Dragon 5N to UAC5 instead of AC2, also changing the Grid Iron to Gauss. So in more cases considering the stock load out. I cannot list exact changes yet as I am not sure how many of these improvements we can get in before patch time. Released Dec 16th patch. --- Community Warfare Phase 2 - Open Beta - The explanations are plentiful in the many posts you have read, you all know what it is. As the title states this will be an Open Beta release and will certainly have known issues when it is released. Special Note on CW Phase 2 Open Beta: At some future date we will remove the Open Beta tag and even rename and re brand the entire thing to something more fitting. It should also be noted that with Open Beta releasing so close to the Christmas break that it is likely there will be some hot fixes that week and even the possibility of downtime on CW as we patch issues that are exposed by the large live population base. Released Dec 16th patch. --- Feedback can go in the December Road Map - Feedback thread: http://mwomercs.com/...-2014-feedback/ Short but understandable I guess as its the month with CW2. Interesting change to the Dragon 5N but if the Grid Iron just changes to gauss... 25% cooldown, 25% velocity and 12.5% range. Paired with medium pulse range/heat gen 25% and the insane torso twist speed... mmh thats interesting.
I know it is only psychological, but now it has an official "Open Beta" tag, I suddenly think it is not as complete as I thought it was....
Yeah I got worried at that tbh. Really don't see what you can do with the GI btw now I've been experimenting unless you drop the triple MPL to ML. Not good.
I'm not too worried about the open beta tag, I'm more amazed any form of CW is even coming on the 16th. Holding judgement on quality or potential until seen.
CW: not as exicted as others but reasonably so. Mabye caused by the German MBO leaque which already simulates many features CW might contain Revised quirks: I'd love to read more about these. Adjustments to current quirks creating OP builds (Thunderwub?)? Adjustments to bad quirk choices (Pretty Baby, Flame, Grid Iron...)? And so on.
So am I. But I'm not holding my breath. I'm expecting a half-baked mode with buggy mechanics and maps. Errors in the queue. Unbalanced gaming... and whatever my mind can imagine that can go wrong (which is enough to fill several forum pages). Not meaning it will happen, but I'm being realistic. Russ states that it's a Beta, he even admits that it might be full of bugs yet to be found by the community... he even seems to rely on that. (And I admire this direct approach on his side.) The good thing of me thinking like this? I can't be dissapointed....much.
I prefer to be optimistic. If there are issues with cw to start, there's still the current gameplay to enjoy.
I am worrying, we should jump on the Russ chat channels much more than need it seems. Them fucking stock-build bunnies seems to be complaining about the quirks. I hope they are not refocusing some quirks on some motherfucking pieces of shit stock builds. Some of them are fucking shit and no one should be using that in the first place. I like most of the quirks I have to say. But yeah, gauss is ok on GI, though 2x UAC5 is nice. The fuck would you use UAC5 on a 5N ... that dragon have 3x Ballistic on the arm for a reason. One reason we should smash those stock-build bunnies back into the craphole they are from. We should remind PGI that running stock pieces of shit does not require much cbills. It is the tinkering and upgrades and changing of builds and modules that requires cbills. It is to PGI's benefits to stand with us builders and not stock-build bunnies. Sure they are vocal, but they don't do much sales. Who would have more mech and use up more cbills (or MC for that matter)?? That frenzied stock-build bunny wh would only buy/use mech from St Ives of Liaos, or any of the mechspecs regulars who may even have muliple copies of the same mech. Your pick, PGI. I am fine with CW being Open Beta, at least they are launching it, it is something going forward rather than running in circles.
It all reads really well to me. I understand that they have limited resources and are perhaps tagging CW as open beta as a preventative step. But I have much paitents for this game and I am enjoying the progress they are making. Regular, reasonable updates. Bring on the 16th! Spoiler: King Crab - Steiner Also check out the faction part of the resistance page if you haven't already!
Nice, would love to see the Marik edition (all I need is to add gold to the paintjob) Thanks for using Steiner as the example, I am not really a fan of Davion, or worse, Liaos.
We also have to remember that this is considered "phase 2" of community warfare. Many updates and tweaks will still happen to it as it goes on. I'm fine with it being a "open beta" because it means its continuing to have work done to it. Lets be honest here though and have some real talk - PGI has really stepped its shit up the last month and some - they are actually saying that it will be coming but there might be bugs and stuff happening that the current F&F testing isn't picking up. I like this open and honest communication and the fact that Russ feels comfortable enough to acknowledge that there might be some need for quick hotfixes. I'd rather have them say "we are on target but there might still be errors that need to be fixed" and acknowledge that some work might still need to be done. Its better then the shit we have been told the past two years - which is nothing.
I've retreated from that argument as every time I twittered or posted I just got mobbed by the rent a mob stock crew. Always the same people but very visible and led by their prophet Bishop Steiner. Should sue them for bullying due to my trauma.
Not much of a fan of most of those. The Rasalhaugue one has some very nice touches and I am ok with the Davion but its not special at all. The others..... well not like I was planning on using your shoddy colours anyway.
Seems like that is what's going on right now. Sometimes I have the feeling that whoever cries the loudest gets heard by Russ. It's like a stock market.... you have to be super fucking annoying and at some point Uncle Russ will break and give in to your nagging. Forum polls. Fuck them. You should NOT make important decisions based on a forum that not even 50% of the player base reads. Most of the forum posters are extremists of some sort (competitive hardliners, noobs, trolls etc) Communication with the playerbase is good but imho PGI is on the brink of getting abused by certain player lobbies. Please do polls in the game (launcher feature or whatever) Wait, what was this thread about again?
