    I've been having a lot of fun with The Bulldogg variant (1x LBX10, 2x LLAS, 2x MLas, XL320) as my alternate CTF-3D build. However, it has struck me that the mech's weapon systems don't mesh well with the way I use it as I tend to be a mid-range fighter with it. Therefore, an AC10 would work much better with the 2xLLas as the spread on the LB10-X is just a bit too much at 300+ meters. Also, this mech can stick with a group for its fighting, so the AMS can get a lot of use helping the team survive. I don't need 3-4 JJs unless I'm really mixing it up in a brawl, too, so I was able to trade in some of those for the extra tonnage, slots, and armor.

    Alternatively, you can replace the AMS with a MG and just attach it firing when you fire the medium lasers. But, I can't imagine the MG would server you better than an AMS. Eh. +1 DPS and crit seeking might be a thing you want?

    Sorry to say, Zap, but a "True Brawler" would run a STD engine, like so;

    However, in Fracts, I still love the XL for the speed. I prefer the first, and, it's a very good build! Great range, solid DPS, good alpha. I'm only objecting to the name! ;) I would say it's more of a killer direct-fire support.

    I do love the AC/10 and LL combo to get people at the 500M range. GREAT way to punch holes through mechs before most can effectively target/damage you. Moreover, the build has plenty of ammo and a very solid overall load-out. I would just avoid true brawls and limit how much I run this mech's exposure.

    Ha! See, you need to read all of the posts in the general forum more closely! In the Battlemech Roles post, the traditional definition of brawler is:

    So you can totally have an XL Engine in a "brawler." Since this is a mid-speed, mid-range, heavily armored mech I have dubbed it the "True Brawler." :)

    True, true. Good point. They aren't designed as "front line" Juggernauts. However, if they are meant to be slower, why not have the survivability? Eh?

    Besides the point, it's a solid build that will do massive damage! :D

    You can have my XL engines when you take them from my cold, smoldering mechs! The mechs I own are Ravens, blackjacks, cataphracts, cicadas, and an Atlas. I am getting a Victor next... I am definitely drawn to XL mechs. My friend had to talk me down from slapping an XL in that Atlas. Heh.

    I definitely think cataphracts don't lose anything with an XL. Although, since it is a ranged mech it could definitely move more slowly and still work. I leave that to others to test and comment on, though!

    Me too! I am an XL addict. I only run STD engines on a few builds. I would rather have the weight for more weaponry and higher speed any day of the week.

    However, in an MWO sense of the Brawler idea, an XL is a painful way to go. Good thing I don't build to brawl! :D
