Just want to offer this up here since I haven't seen it listed exactly. Very good basic mech here, if a little short ranged. 40 point alpha, good mobility at 72.6 tweaked with jumpjets and excellent cooling. Very tough with standard engine, full armor (-1 each leg), and AMS included as well. I'm comfy with 15 on the backplates, but tweak to your liking there. There are higher alpha/higher ranged builds out there for sure, but not at this level of mobility and toughness. Nothin real flashy - just a good well-rounded rig, minus the range limitation. So, from that standpoint, obviously more suited to those that prefer to be up close and personal and that have solid ballistic skills. You have 28 shots of AC/20 to bash someones face in with, so the single biggest sin in anything packing the Big Kahuna like this is to miss. If you can do the driving part well enough to get yourself into good firing envelopes and get your rounds onto your target then most of the time you're gonna have a pretty good game. Thanks for Reading!
Came to the same build on my own as well, it's been shining all day in my new 3D. The JJs really help your AC20 overcome the low slung ballistic hardpoint and less than amazing maneuverability. The combination of jump jets, STD engine, and torso twisting while your weapons are all cooling down will add significant survivability over other less maneuverable, XL 'phracts.
Yeah V, saw Blagg's post when I was scanning for this build - I will probably give that a shot as well eventually, looks like a nice setup...
My version: 12 DHS are enough for me. FF lets you put in a bigger engine (but no AMS)....armor could be reduced to fill the remaning slot with a second JJ.
