I don't know how the other phoenix variants are, but the locust 1v folder is ridiculous. So many were going with the XL170, it's hard to read through them all now that we know it's max is XL190. Granted, XL170 may be the most viable for a chosen weapon loadout, but I'd image most people are going to use an XL190 since those builds work in the other two mechs and the 3M will probably end up being the clear choice if one wants to continue to play a locust. Maybe we should think about clearing them out, or making a sub-folder in the 1v folder titled "Pre-Release Theories" or something and then the person can bring over those into the actual main root folder if they still hold true after launch.
That's why untested builds should not be posted in the first place. We all love to play with the mechlab, it does not mean we need to share every junk build we make.
Some people (namely me) will theory-craft and then update their builds post-release. Other people spam the board because they can't contain themselves...
Well, some builds would REQUIRE a lower engine rating to get it to work, so not all non XL190 builds are not viable (1 ton is alot for a mech with this size, I factored in the engine HS). That, and both 3M and 3S are fine actually.
the 3m and 3s are fine because Grimm didn't allow anyone to post builds Usually the theory-crafting is fine because we know how the loadouts should work, but in cases like the 1V when things change significantly, it's bit of a mess. Plus, depending on how side torso's look, it's always a gamble whether an XL is viable or not so theory-crafting is just that - theory. I voted to remove them; I build plenty of loadouts in smurfy - I just don't post them all here like a madman claiming territory
As an updated I've added a 24 hour limit to the poll just so it isn't sitting around doing nothing. Tomorrow (Thursday) at 0900 it closes.
I am guilty of this. I posted a pre-release build. I would like to apologize as I have seen the err off my ways. I think epikt said it perfectly. There is no reason to post something we've never even tried. Who would've guessed the Locust would behave as it does in battle? Certainly not what I expected.
I think it's okay to go through options before the mech is released to workshop potential builds, though yeah, once the mechs are actually in the game, all of those builds need to be purged and moved to a sub-folder.
I suggest keeping it into a single thread/post named "DUSTY OLD PRE-RELEASE CRAFTING" or something. That way we can both READ THOSE BUILDS FOR IDEAS and not cluttering up the forum. It would help if we do not really lose some of the better ideas yet keeping the place clean. A single post pinned would do both.
AHAHAHA!!! I just noticed how Mason phrased the poll options; "No, leave it cluttered with suboptimal builds" Oh my god. Almost fell out of my chair laughing. Wonder what his opinion is?
Maybe the best idea without involving a stickied post or Michael doing work figuring out how to make a sub-sub folder work would be just make 1 extra folder in the list - So it would be: Locust Folder 1V, 3M, 3S, Pre-release people could be allowed to post all 3 variants in the Pre-release folder, but the 3 actual variant folders would be locked until patch day. ...might make people angry if we willy-nilly delete their build, but similarly, I don't want that shit cluttering my beautiful idea repository that I build off of sometimes
I've moved them to a sub folder... If you are one of the Locust pilots who built something and you want it moved just copy your sheet and re-post it so all the dates are POST-October 15th.
I'm working on it. Got about 10 things to do at once time. Remember, show your support and click on some of (click) our sponsors interesting (click) banners whenever you (click) see something interesting (click click).
This task has been completed. I have gone through and moved EVERY Phoenix mech that was posted, as far as I could see quickly and easily, before October 15th. If people want their builds moved over because they are builds that are actually being used then please PM me and I will do so.
This is a great solution to the problem. we can probably nuke that section after a few months also. I am updating my builds to fit better with the changes (mostly the engine on my one build I would change, the other I just copy through cause that is the best a LCT-1V can do). Will work on my other builds in the SHD section later. In fact, some builds are better done on other variants instead.
