Agreed, but I do think that in the future, a more MW4 Mercenaries type Solaris (Hooray for Duncan Fisher!) WOULD be something fun to have on the side to CW, and maybe a future thing. It may be a future thing with leaderboards, and nice new arenas, but it's not going to be "better" per say, than CW. MWO IS A TEAM-BASED game, and although free-for all or 1 on 1 WOULD be fun, it would NOT be something that we will see coming soon. As I said, I absolutely LOVE Solaris, but it just won't fit in at this moment. Just don't say too many complaints before we PLAY CW for ourselves. THEN I think we can actually consider that, if CW ends up to be like you claim. We DO have a lot of info on it already, but you can't judge a gameplay feature just by looking at it.
you know that german "CW simulation" called MBO? Drop decks are random, e.g. (tonage) 25-35-60-65-80-95 and that means that people are forced to use certain mechs that are not "meta". I love it. No idea how the real CW is going to work in that regard, maybe someone can enlighten me?
No and technically no. Well we do know a bit its 140-240 drop decks (must be 4 mechs of your faction and modules/fits cannot be changed once you launch) but not much more. Sorry thats not too helpful but I don't think we really know much atm.
Let my throw in my thoughts on Community Warfare vs Solaris: I would enjoy both. The first one, because it would give those grind skirmishes we do day after day a purpose and a certain roleplay. Don't forget that in time, we will get more than just a mere insignificant planet. Some planets will hold ressources, factories and other things worth a fight. At least that's what I expect. And of course the loyalty points you grind will be another benefit, granting you access to certain equipment or other stuff. The second, because I loved Solaris on MW4 and I still enjoy dueling 101 with friends just for sports. And there are many possibilities. 101, 202.. all-for-one, last man standing.... classladders, tonnagebased ladders, anything goes ladders, restricted weaponry .... I know I will never make it to the top, but it sure would make fun to participate. Just imagine the main matches boradcasted on twitter with a good commentator.... or even joining as a spectator in-game. And bets.. oh yeah, making an extra dime should be an option. I so want this to happen.....
Trust me, give us a certain deck rule we WILL make META with the mechs we get our hands on. And I am sure PGI will not force us to run STOCK pieces of fucking shit. And drop decks will not be random here, cause of the mech pool people have. They will not allow access to mech that is not in your garage, thereby limiting the randomness of things. Basically, you will get to choose, and obviously it would be the meta stuff you will use. Winning is the goal here, not roleplay (rolephay is wonderful, with your friends over a can of beer and cheetos. But most guys here in CW on the other side are just enemies, you want them dead, preferably crying like a little bitch). And if you make people get mech randomly from what they have, all I do is to say FUCK YOU and sell the non-meta mechs I have. In the end, it is the same. Don't get me wrong, a bit of CW give the game more purpose, as will Solaris. I am likely to play in both. But in the end most players are PUGS, and we are all doing it for ourselves.
Now you see, why would anyone play IS? If you want to win, you better make damn sure you're on the team with the timber wolves. Oh and don't start that "clan isn't op" thing. It is. Clan tech is so super meta, mentioning IS mechs in comp setups is just an afterthought. Lights are the exception, but that doesn't do much in terms of overall balancing BTW I am now playing firestarters / "meta" (means "less shitty") IS mechs exclusively in group queue, because I'm fed up with getting my ass kicked all the time. And I'm not a bad player, it's just that.. well, I want to win and use the best tool available.
Well, the new quirk does help. (and the JJ nerf the timberwolves a bit) I enjoy playing IS more actually.. But I remmber saying if you want special stuff like grey company/wolf dragoon colors you need to play all sides a bit, so I would probably start with the clans, then IS (starting with shit fraction I hate most like Liao) and finally to the ones I like, like the Deep Purple!
Well technically we'd just start a new account and cadet bonus our mechs vs shit elo pilots..... easy. I shamefully was going to do that to allow clan vs is mech use and dropping with friends but it may not be that necessary now.
Having both my unit Zulu-6 and Dudes Club (Aylek and many other Marik Germans here) dropping together last night for a few hours solid I might beg to differ. Needless to say I was the only non German speaker in channel but they were all being nice and showing their proficiency with foreign languages as usual. It's part of the grand alliance for CW - Davion and Marik versus Liao/Clanners. Now we just need to get UMAD involved......
Last night I averaged 3.6 kills and 724 damage over the 10 matches we were logging in the solo queue in my DRG-1N - 6 wins and 4 losses. Included a disaster battle where I was 1 vs 3 against a TDR-5SS MPL, dual AC20 JM6 boat and Cicada 3M at point blank range and went 0 kills/shit damage. Literally never saw their sneaky move until the ECM cover alerted me and they rounded the corner. I have minimal problems taking down clan mechs and just really struggle against IS lights. The mechs I HATE meeting are in fact all IS, e.g. TDR-5SS etc. Coincidentally that was just a test of AC5 vs AC2 as we were arguing the merits (or otherwise) of AC2's. Clan are great in a death ball but thats the unified speed which works well with the solo queue as it encourages them to stick together.
Should have said I pilot a lot of other mechs atm but that was a specific test to showcase the value of AC 5's on a quirked chassis.
As a matter of fact, most german units are glad if some native english players find their way to their TS. They are a bit rusty at first, but get the hang of it really quick... but they sure can use the practice. (I refer to them as "they", because I might be in a german unit, but german is not my native language.) I don't think that clans are OP. The last factionbased challenge showed that the IS-Faction can dish it out as good as clanners can. Of course the teams were mixed, so actually I don't really think that the results are really accurate. Considering that the Ladder showed the sum of the best 50 pilots of each faction I think it's pretty balanced. But that's just me... I should put off the rainbow-glasses from time to time.
