this was the last match, you have 2 Mining in a row.

here is a little outside view of the matches I recorded.

Thats largely up to the piloting skill of the firestarter and the shooting skill of the direwolf.

@Vergere --- Great video man! Thanks for putting that together. ;)

May I just add: The Oxide looks so cute, compared to the Huginn, which looks like a gangster!

But yeah, anyway, in PUG matches, it can really be a tossup between the two. Here's the screenshot of that match Solahma mentioned, where my Oxide performed beautifully. I played the fringes mostly, hitting them with that beautiful alpha, in the backs especially whenever I could.

Concerning a rematch of the Oxide vs Huginn, I would consider these two builds:

    vs.

Matched engine speed and should be plenty of ammo. The addition of Artemis will help at greater ranges although the overall reduced alpha & dps might not work well.

Looks like a closer matchup for a 1v1

For a 1v1, yeah that might work better for the Oxide. But it still has MUCH less DPS (especially with one fewer SRM4), less range, and worse hitboxes. I think, for 1v1, the Huginn will always win (in the current state of the game anyway). Jenner CT just so huge . . .

Still, I'd be up for trying this, just to see. It'd mean buying Artemis and then selling it again, but no matter.

Why only 3 SRM4s on the Oxide? You can mount a 280 with 4 launchers, easily!
(that what I use for usual drops)

I saw that, but I don't think it worth the loss of firepower.
Especially in preparation for a duel with a Huginn, don't play the game the way your enemy wants it. You need to work with the Oxide strenght, its alpha-strike. Don't care about the missile spread, the tactic is to hug the bird and blast it at point blank.

if you read the previous post from @Solahma, then you would know that they did have 4x SMR4s on the Oxide, and 2xSRM4+A on the Huggin. Plus, if you watch the video, you can see parts where the Huggin just keeps fireing the SRMs, even while the Oxide is reloading.

It's like comparing a Automatic to a Shotgun. They can fire the same rounds, but one is faster. Plus, the pilot in the Huggin didn't miss as many rounds as the pilot in the Oxide.

So it combat this, they are thinking of having both mechs with Artemis. It won't help the SRM ROF, but it will help with the overall spread.

Holy crap cbills. Here I am with my pathetic mediums and heavy heroes hoping for a good cbill farmer... Nice.

The Oxide did not lose because of its weapon system but because of its engine rating. All I see on the video is the Huginn dictating the term of the battle, because the Oxide isn't mobile enough.

edit: what you are doing here is "let's fight the Huginn way". It's not surprising the Huginn wins.

(and to be honest I don't think Falc's build is good: I really don't understand why such a low engine, XL280 is the standard, and XL265 is the one you pick if you desperately need one more ton - but even this is too slow for my taste)

I've been staring at Oxides since I saw what they could do after quirks... Watching them duel last night made me want one even more.

When it comes to embers and locusts with short range precision lasers and especially JJ on fire starters I get into "how do I drive this ca-raaaazy thing?!!"

But I think I can run SRM's and no JJ distraction...

Maybe I just want to duel Solhama in an Oxide!

    @Fherot --- :D You need to get an Oxide then . . .?

@epikt --- I realize the 255 is extremely slow for a light; but it's what I run in PUG drops, so I can get enough ammo without losing TOO much armor. For light dual, we knew it would be nasty, but the idea was to keep the builds the way we run them in normal matches; so that's what I did. ;)

Interesting write up, thank you. I did not expect the little Hug to come out on top, and so profoundly.
This is a hero I may need to invest in; though I'd still rather have a Javelin.

Everyone should keep in mind that before doing this that Sol said this wasn't to prove anything and was just them having fun. This means that we don't really know which is better in a one on one. Only that Sol beat Falconium a small sample set of duels with only two different builds (one was only used once). What I did notice was that Falconium missing often and that allowing Sol to make up the difference with dps. It would be cool to see more people try this maybe Epikt vs Someone as he's the reason I first considered the oxide. I still want to try a Huginn though so this doesn't change anything for me I just think it looks fun.

Regardless if the second build was only one once, the Huginn won every mach. I'd consider myself and Falconium to be pretty equal in terms of skill level so we can rule that out. Sure, we can run a 4x SRM4 XL280 build in another 5 game duel, then try the build I suggested w/ Artemis for another 5. But that would only even the odds between the two builds. I would guess it might even the games out to a 3-2 situation where they are practically equal in a 1v1 scenario.

Don't trust what a 3rd person spectates and sees. Many of my shots connected MUCH better than they appeared from Vergere's perspective. I'm sure this applies to Falconium as well. Also, the DPS of the Huginn on smurfy's doesn't account for the 50% cooldown quirk OR the 12% cooldown module. The DPS of the Huginn is over double what is displayed. I haven't run the numbers, but i'd make a solid guess that the Huginn w/ 2x SRM4 is very close if not better DPS than the Oxide w/ 4x SRM4.
