I'm with epikt on this one. While the huginn can be fun in a sadistic, noob-stomping way, there is zero scenarios where the oxide won't destroy it (unless the oxide went through 5t ammo before meeting the huginn).
I tried two avenues of reporting the macro with MGs to them...the first, on the forums, was deleted outright. The second, emailed to support, got an auto-response back talking about macros not being considered exploits...but it seemed extremely vague (hence why I think it was just an auto response). I've tried cornering Russ in a town hall with the question, but my sleep schedule has prevented me from being awake when he's done them
Thank you. Your post being deleted from the forum can be a sign it's considered as an exploit and they don't want it to be known too much before they find a way to fix it.
if PGI is okay with that macro then I say let's use it. I mean if they really don't care about it, one would be insane NOT to take advantage of it!? I'd just like to hear some sort of "official" acknowledgement first that it's ok and stuff....
I never use Macros. Period, full stop. It's an exploit (however justified it may be) which changes how you play the game. If I'm not playing the game, what's the point? As an example: consider a RacingMMO, sort of a Nascar type game. What if someone set up a Macro which gets you the best start possible, and makes the exact best turns the entire match. All you have to do is watch . . . why use an Auto-Pilot to win a Racing game? What's the point? Likewise, why use an Auto-shooter to win a Shooting game? What's the point? Anyway, Oxide is still better I think. DPS doesn't matter so much if you have to sit there and take hits while you're pouring those MGs into them. Better to hit-and-run in a Light. And I don't think the Huginn is best for Light-v-Light. Firestarter-A is, in my opinion, as it has high alpha with fast cooldown, and enough heat efficiency to fire at least 5 or 6 times in a row on any map. Sure it has nasty Leg hitboxes, but what light doesn't have a bad hitbox one way or another?
Just let it go, rather than being a SJW about it. They definitely know about it, and thy would nerf it if they think it is really a big enough problem. For now, we enjoy it.
SJW? Back to the original topic, I meant to have Shadowplay save a video of someone playing a Huginn brutally last night, but it apparently said no...guy showed just what it can do versus heavier mechs. The best part was his final rush, he took out 3-4 heavier mechs from the front in a matter of seconds, was going to get the final kill, but we won on points first So Huginn CAN be nasty in the right hands too.
I have to say that I actually prefer the chicken over the Oxide. The Jenner CT is so HUGE anyway, it's not that much better than raven legs... and the firing rate of those srm4 combined with the machine guns is just sweet.. The Oxide is awesome, don't get me wrong. I seem to do better in the raven though. 700dmg games are not rare for me and the screen shake seems to fuck people up too. But Artemis instead of MGs.. not for me. Also, ammo is life.. I always use Epikt's versions as he is my light mech messiah and I'm not as creative when it comes to loadout optimization other ligth mechs (low-ping-spiders and OXIDE are somewhat an exception) are DOA when they meet this monster.
My Pirates Bane has relatively few problems with either as I sail past your back at 170 KPH. Now Firestarters rip me a new one....
The problem with the PB is that you don't hit too reliably at 170 kph especially low-ping targets, which are a HUGE issue i think when people complain about OMG SPIDER HITBOXES OP they really mean, without knowing, that you're better off picking your nose instead of trying to shoot a 60ms-ping target when your ping is 120ms
Like Falco, I am utterly against using macro's (even though I stated going to try out the MG one, I didn't yet) Now maybe, if we make it a big enough problem, PGI might be a bit more motivated in addressing the problem. This clearly is an exploit and creates an unfair advantage,... Pause to thought post first reaction: "Then again, people with better PCs and better screens can target me better, from farther and with a wider view then I can them,... also quite an advantage,..."
I know that it is an exploit and feel the urge NOT to use this macro for moral reasons. I'm an idealist. I don't need laws to NOT do something I otherwise could.
Sir I point you towards this post: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/l...-saved-the-day-matches.5882/page-5#post-58051 One must educate the peasants about the glory of their Locust overlord.
Again thank you guys for all the discussion on these two tiny titans I have purchased the oxide and finally have it elited out. I put a xl285 in it with the freak build and 5ts of ammo. First game with it all kitted out river city night and I get a huginn in my lance So needless to say it was fun to see who would win. right off the bat I solo'd an lrm atlas at lower city docks spawn. He couldn't even find me I was dodging through buildings so well. Went on to absolutely murder the other team with a 12-2 ending. I went 5-3-613 d and high amounts of highest damage and solo kills. I love chasing lights in it when they straight-line away from me. Ah the soft RearCT Ok back on topic the last kill also turned out to be another lrm atlas... alone only a block up the street from where I killed the first one (we circled the whole map) Me and the Huginn were on it. I decided to get it's attention while I let Hugs have the rear. I started chainfiring the 4's just to see how well it worked on screwing up his aim and it was great as he never landed and ac20. So great he eventually tried to run and turned his now mildly orange back to me and I paused for a second of srm coldown and unloaded at least 12 into his back all at once coring him. So while I still want the Face Hugger I think I will have a lot of fun with this hero for the time to come. The last thing I'd like to say is wow Dat Face Time. The srm16 jousting is amazing I run up drop torps in their face and run past before they know what hit em and turn around for a second round. The range and spread isn't too bad for the damage if you want to peak. Bet I could bulls-eye womprats in it
As for macros it would help to have some tweaks from PGI too. I.E. Tag toggle and MG toggle, or weapon group toggle in general, would be nice features and very easy to implement.
