My two favorite BJ-1 builds have been the BJ-1 Two and Two and Two variant (2xERLLs, 2xMLs, 2xMGs, XL235, AMS, 4xJJ) and the BJ-1 "Top Shelf" (2x AC2, 2x MLas, JJ, XL235). With the Top Shelf build I've been having problems breaking 400-500 damage on a consistent basis since I can just tear through the AC2 ammo and then am just left with 2 MLs to mop up with; at the same time the Two and Two variant can really wrack up the damage for me, but I miss the disruptive power that an AC2 provides. So my solution is to combine my two favorite BJ-1 variants into one big and happy killing machine! I ran with this mech for the last two nights and it seems to work very well with my play style. The heat is surprisingly manageable and it seems to transition from long range to mid range quite effectively. I've only run out of ammo a handful of times, and usually only during the mop-up phase of the match. I have run it with one less DHS and one more ton of ammo which seemed to work as well. It was such a decadent amount of ammo, though, so I scaled it back for some better heat management since the build can be a bit warm sometimes.
Interesting load-out. I will have to try this out. I have run both ways, but, never combined. Looks solid, Don!
I ran this build for a while this morning. VERY effective! It can get a little hot as a sniper (of course my first drop had to be Mordor) but this mech just tears it up. Great versatility and quick strike. Do enjoy. Well played, Don!
Thanks! Over the last week or so I've been doing quite well with this build as well. I am loving the new twist rate increase from the last patch. I feel like a whirling dervish when I have to engage at brawler range! I still rarely run out of ammo so I'm thinking the lower ammo amount amount is *just* right. This build has also gotten better compared to my other favorite build (2xERLLs, 2xMLs, 2xMGs) with the downgrade that MGs suffered during the last patch as well.
