AS7-WGS Atlas Samsonov Elite Tactics: Think like a Warlord. Destroy like a Warlord. Based on Grieg Samsonov's modified AS7-D Become the mean, old Warlord bastard himself.
I am not an Assault Pilot but I really like your post. Adding the historical background material makes this a far more interesting 'Mech then it would be otherwise. I also like that you added the link for the Classic Battletech Data Sheet. I'll give it a 5* just to ensure people look at it. Mythweaver.
Thanks. I've enjoyed this kind of build for an Atlas, and its variants thoroughly. When I'm not trying to min/max, I strive for these more challenging builds. With a skilled user at the wheel, they can be highly effective. I am also notorious for making builds based on record sheets, which I find fun for some reason. I usually start with a default layout to get a feel for it, continually practice it, then try to modify it 'BT realistically.' I have some other posts on these forums that I will probably update with the new smurfy layout.
I spend my down time at work either writing posts on this Forum or using the Battletech Tech Manual to create the Table Top version of my 'Mechs. I have been trying to learn how to scan images of my 'Mech Data Sheets and turn them into the proper type of file in order to post them here. The comparisons are pretty neat, some of them are actually nearly exact with the exception of the doubled armor values as well as some conflicting 'Mech weights and engine sizes. With some luck I'll figure it out soon and I can start posting a few camparisons. Myth.
Been playing around with my Founders Atlas and while doing so, ended up with a loadout that is pretty much equal to your "Challenge Mode". I have yet to try to it in actual combat, as I have only run this on the training grounds thus far. rgds Om Edit: *updated: removed 1 ton ammo for 1 ton dhs*
Just did a few matches with the Samsonov Special, and I have to say that I absolutely love it. The heat is easily manageable, there's a ridiculous sum of ammo for liberal AC/20 use, plus you're an Atlas. I'll be using this a lot more. This is a similar loadout to what I use on my Misery, but the Atlas just executes it better; the arm swing allows you to really aim with those PPCs and keep pressure on your target, regardless of where they are. Definitely a favorite.
I wanted something different to play so I tried to recreate the Samsonov with a D-DC. It's a blast to pilot, and it actually has pretty decent damage output. [Update] With the current meta (15 heat ERPPC's!) this build just should not work. Should. Not. Work. Yet it continues along just as well, if not even better than before.
