Trick number #1 - Capable of putting out 26 salvos of 35 LRM/salvo, which when combined with artemis, tag and BAP should let you core a few mechs per round. SPECIAL BONUS - the ECM keeps the opposing LRM boats from firing back at you, making it a less than fair fight.

Trick number #2 - When the light mechs and brawlers move in to trap you in a circle of death, the large pulse laser and LB10-X AC puts out very strong damage in the brief window that opens up when the enemy mech is in front of you. SPECIAL BONUS - you get to enjoy the glorious "wub-wub-wub" sound of the large pulse laser.

    Thoughts?

I think this build is fairly well thought out. Not too many LRM boats use a STD engine or ECM.

The one suggestion I can make is to go from 2xLRM10+1xLRM15 to 2xLRM15+1xLRM5. You're looking at 8+8+3 = 19 tons instead of 6+6+8 = 20 tons. Same number of missiles, but you get an extra salvo.

I have a few other concerns that may be more personal preference...

    1) 900 Ammo isn't a whole lot for LRMs (although it will go a lot farther now than before this recent patch), especially if its your primary weapon on an Assault mech. I tend to burn through 720 on my LRM30 Trebuchet pretty easily, and it doesn't have the staying power.

    2) Your up-close damage is pretty good for an LRM boat (basically 2xML+AC/10), but your long-range damage isn't on par with some of the other LRM boats (Thinking LRM40 Stalker or LRM60 Awesome). I'm not sure if there's a good fix for that on the D-DC, though, because your options are limited for secondary weapons. If you go 2xLRM15 + 1xSRM6/SSRM2, you can up your up-close firepower without hurting your long-range firepower much.

    3) Even with ECM, you are a big target, and not that fast. If they don't have tag they can blind-fire and hit you (it also comes without the "incoming missiles" warning, I think) or they can tag you. AMS might not be a bad thing.

Really appreciate the feedback on the 2x LRM15 + LRM5 vs. 2xLRM10 +LRM15! Modified version taking into account suggestion #1 would look like this.

Or taking suggestion number 2 and 3, which I really like. Better survivability with the AMS, plus the SSRM-2 takes advantage of the BAP anti-ECM update.

Only problem with that second variant is you start to run into issues with too many weapon groups. Maybe the LRM35 with AMS (you could drop 1/2 ton on your legs with no problem) and the LPL+LBX would be the simplest option. Although you could do the laser and SSRMs on the same group...

What about downgrading the LPL to a LL so you get two extra tons out of it.

No reason to run BAP on an ECM mech to counter enemy ECM unfortunately. On the plus side, you've got another ton and a half to play with again.

Liking the looks of this build. I JUST bought my D-DC last night and I may be fooling around with this once I get some cash (mine is stock right now >.

BAP still helps LRMs by letting you target out to 1000 (without module) or past range with module. But you're right, I didn't think about how they work together, this is a unique LRM boat, after all.

Depending on how it's coded, your BAP may start countering ECM once your own ECM is destroyed...but by the time you lose your LT how much do you care? :D

The targeting range could come in handy, and so could some ammo (and maybe a CASE). Someone who's run assaults (cause I haven't), how much of an issue are ammo explosions? Without the BAP you could easily CASE your RT. Something like:

Extra ton of LRM and a CASE to cover the RT. Moved the AMS ammo to RT so it can't go off in the LA and spread to LT.

Thoughts from someone who knows assaults?

I don't like separating ammo from equipment. If your right torso or your left arm goes, you lose your AMS.
