This has a lot in common with SniperCzar's "Clunker 2.0" build. I actually started from scratch without seeing that build but we eventually ended up with some of the same conclusions. Main differences is that it incorporates ECM, full armor, and a faster engine as I opted for endo in the route I took.

The idea behind this is to avoid long range fights and play to your strengths, which is pretty much a straight up close range brawler with an ECM cloak. In a close range knife fight you really will just knock people down with this, and its quite a lot of fun. Try to focus on playing "defensive" rather then "offensive" in most cases, as you are a brick wall for the other team trying to get past.

Heat is an issue as always in an atlas, and you won't really be using all the weapons all the time with this. Chain the LLas mostly as your mid-longish range weapon, and focus more heavily on the ACs as range closes, until you can dump SRMs at basically point blank (I rarely use them beyond 100m, 200 rounds is probably more then I need).

Quite a lot of fun though, and I have been having some really good games with it even though I am a bit of an atlas noob (I play stalkers more).

I'm not an Assault pilot but I definately respect what this 'mech can do to the likes of my RVN-3L or any other light for that matter.

Yeah, lights getting around you is an issue as always with an assault, but the combined instant damage of lbx and srm (along with the fact they are a lot easier to score hits with than something like ppcs or gauss) means they only need to screw up once or twice.

    e:
I've literally seen some of the better/smarter light pilots lock me up and then avoid me when they see what I have fitted given that shotguns, srms, and llas are some of the easiest to use and best light killing weapons around.

It's kinda funny sometimes, though it sucks that they are probably going to go smack around an easier team mate with a gauss build or something since I'm too slow to do anything if they are out of my ecm envelope.

Hi there, this build is awesome at close range and for killing Lights in one blow. Full stars. I really love it. Even if i prefer one AC/20 over dual LBX, but still this is in my opinion one of the best builds for this Mech.

    here my version:

I downgraded the SRM6 to SRM4 (less spread). Now you run a bit cooler.

I was actually just looking into getting a D-DC for this exact build. Dual LBX and 3xSRMs crazy brawling right now. So much power. We'll see if I spend the $.

Tried this build 'cause I'm more of a Brawler type of player and this REALLY fits my play style. Love your build. Been using it makes most mechs that face me run away when those duel LB 10-X AC's start pounding them. Have them set to chain fire. Awesome! :)

I find myself downgrading the SRM6 to SRM4 as well, and fully endorse Blagg's version of the build. Then again to me it feels like artemis on SRM4s which already have very low spread is not necessary, but it's always a nice bonus, and the bit of extra armor and heatsink you get when you don't put it on aren't that much of a big deal either.

I've been running Blagg's variant of this for a couple of days and like the level of murder that it can deal out at brawling range. I am having a bit of heat issues, however, and basically stop firing the LLs when brawling. ALso, I've had some problems with consistently landing the SRMs as their lead time is different than the LB10-Xs and the LLs. So... I've tweaked it a little and came up with this variant:

This allows the LLs and LRMs to be fired at range while approaching, and the LLs and LB10-Xs to be fired at brawling range. Additionally, when 300 meters away I can still alpha strike and have better heat management than the previous variants. I don't really miss out on additional damage when brawling up close as the LLs essentially replace the SRM4s for me.

I only use LRMs when approaching at mid-range so the smallish amount of ammo has not been an issue so far.

Hey guys. I like where you guys are going with the build. I run something very similar, let me know what you guys think. I keep debating what side to keep the PPC on, but I think i like it on the right arm. Looking forward to your feedback/suggestions.

    Thanks

    Hello Guys !

First post. Thanks for the downtime, i could avoid some mistakes and read some of those wonderfull builds.
I'm new to the game, and i bought my very first Atlas D-DC a fews days ago, while looking for a polyvalent one to invest my money on. (Almost completed all the stage one of experience for him)
I'm actually running with the base template, saving money for something interesting.

That's where i discovered this subject, i'm very interested, and i came up with my own variation :

But i couldn't help but notice that you were all running very low on heat, wouldn't it be wiser to run with med laser and add a DHS ? In the other subject with UAC5 builds they are more likely around 40% heat.

I'm a little concerned about the gameplay, since i'm still a recruit level player. How hard do you evaluate this build gameplay wise?

Would you recommand me to go for the close by variation with UAC5 considering i'm new to the game ? It seems a little bit more forgiving and polyvalent

    many thanks for reading !

    Hello, and welcome to Mechspecs.

Since you are new to the game, you still have to max out the pilot modules in this mech. For those of us that do, 30% heat is easily manageable. As for which loadout is better, you have to decide that yourself.

I decided to get into Assaults after playing for most of the past 3 months with Heavies, and picked up the D-DC after I realized you could mount Dual LBX-10 with Dual LLas. I went with pretty much exactly Blagg's build (2xLBX10, 2xLLas, 3xSRM4, AMS), and it works to great effect.

My biggest issue with this build (and this is likely true for any Atlas chassis) is that all of the weapons are pretty low in the torso, so its hard to hit targets on ridges. I'm thinking about switching out the SRMs for LRMs so that I can at least do something when I have line of sight, but no way to hit the enemy.

As for the heat, just don't go crazy on the SRMs. Fire them only when you're right in someone's face, and your heat will be fine. Once you get to ~90% heat, stick to just the LBX10s until your heat comes down again.

I love this build on the Atlas. The rate of fire for the LBX in my opinion outweigh the one hit of the AC20. My VERY slightly tweaked version of this great build. 200 SRM ammo is more than enough for a protracted battle for me so I put the extra ton into the LBX ammo which I go through much more quickly because of its high rate of fire. Its hot but not as hot as you would expect having 20+ max dps and a 70 alpha. It is easily manageable with a little discipline...something I often lack.

A normal-ish outting for this mech

Is the purpose of the AMS to assist with LRMS if and when you switch ECM to counter mode?

    Very nice build(s) posted here!

    Here's my tweaked version:

Very similar to Blagg Zear's apart from I sacrifice the AMS and a chunk of leg armour (how many times have you been legged in an Atlus?) for a bigger engine. I decided the the biggest weakness of the mech was simply getting to where you needed to be, so thought a larger engine than the 300 is paramount.

    All 'horses for courses' though!

I'm running your build, and I can attest that it's not a problem running a 300, because that ECM blanket is a great motivator for clingers. This is a 5-5 build thread across the board, and I really love the shredding power of double shotty's. Reminds me of C.O.D., but I digress.

I am a streak whore, and will bang your sister if you frown upon me sir. While the DPS of SRM's blow this off the charts, I find my style of play more pleasing with der streakens.
