I got the idea of using 2xLRM15s from Torabayashi. You could either set it to burst or chain fire. The AC/10 is used for self-defense while the PPCs are used for long-range sniping.
It is a little iffy, but this is only a experiment. I wish I could have used 2xLRM10 but there are only 16 missile tubes.
Even if it only has 16 tubes, it means it fires 16 missles and then another volley of however many missiles are left. skribs is right, AMS will eat 3 volleys of 5 missiles
The number of tubes applies per launcher, not total. As an extreme example, if you have 5 missile tubes and 8 missile hardpoints on one component (okay, not possible unless they do something really bizarre), you would fire 40 missiles at once from 8xLRM5, but you could only fire 5-5-5-5 from a single LRM20. This means that with 16 tubes, you could fire any number of LRM15s at once. The only limit would be on LRM20, which would fire 16-4.
I would not recommend chain fire on LRMs at all. You're basically giving the enemy more opportunity to run for cover and making it easier for AMS to eat through your salvo. I may be a bit of a build snob, but there are actually several concerns I have with this build, although it mostly applies to LRM D-DCs in general. Primary Weapon? The big question is - what's your primary weapon? Because it devotes a moderate amount of tonnage to the LRMs (18 tons including ammo) and PPCs (18 tons including DHS), as well as 15 tons to the AC/10. LRMs: The LRMs will be very hard to effectively use against ECM (instead of being able to tag, you have to use PPCs to light up targets). No TAG and no Artemis means wide spread, so these are not going to be your primary coring weapon. The difficulty in fitting TAG and energy weapons onto a D-DC are the primary reason I find it less capable of handling the missile boat role. Deadzone: PPCs have a minimum range of 90m, under which they do less damage (ER PPCs do not have this problem, but this build is shy on heat sinks). LRMs do 0 damage under 180m. This means if someone gets on top of you, all you have for effective damage is partial from your PPCs and your AC10. Lights would have a pretty easy time with this. Because of the tonnage spent on each weapon system, I don't feel this build really has a focus. It does a lot of damage, yes, but I also feel it would be pretty easy to counter.
Yeah, I didn't really think it thoroughly enough. Oh well, just trying what builds would be more suited whr en I get this game.
Seriously, you really need to get the game and play. You can only theorycraft so much before you need to playtest. A little bit of experience will go a long way towards knowing what works and what doesn't.
It should be soon. This is only a guess but I think I'll be getting my computer in about two weeks, just after my high school grad. The only experience I have is watching NGNG, Cattra and a few other MWO youtubers.
