High alpha-strike D-DC. Is AMS useless on a D-DC with ECM? There are few situations where the AMS actually has to fire off. Discuss.
I like the extended range the build can offer, but 12 Heat Sinks with 3 SRM 6's and 2 LLs can run too hot for a brawler, especially when the UAC's are producing their fair share of heat. Sure, 3 SRM 6's may have negligable ghost heat, but it still does make a difference in a pinch. I prefer the sustainability and constant firepower the "usual" Shotgun Harry build carries. With ECM, there shouldn't be too much of a problem getting close to where you need to, or finishing off wounded targets while you're still in mint condition.
NO This is the Build many still run in this Atlas for many reasons. Mostly because there is no major heat penalty. I've run this build and loved it, but prefer the SRM4 builds. Otherwise, this is an old meta build that simply wasn't posted earlier.
I was using this, and it works. You burst the UAC5 until they jam during advance, While you can sweep your LLas. Since UAC jams you don't need to worry about the heat really. At close range you point blank your SRM18 for the death blow.
The problems i see in this build is the sluggish speed and the bad Cool Efficiency for maintaining the powerful Weaponloadout for sustained battles. Besides there are better options for high Alphastrikes, e.g. AC20.builds
I've tried to fix mentioned problems. Had to sacrifice a bit of leg armor, SRM volley weight and AMS, but the result is impressive. STD340 does not make Altas much faster, but torso twist speed increases drastically, allowing to spread damage much better. Slightly better cooling means that you can apply your combo of LLas + UACs longer, and shorter cooldown retreats. I keep my lasers on chain-fire, and UACs linked to even more reduce heat generation.
I think u can keep a lot the spirit of the build sacrificing the engine to 325, that still have 3 internal slots, and only loosing 3kph from the 340, and allows to upgrade the SRM volley by 4 tubes. I still feel it low in ammo anyways, but it have more cooling also. Or choice 2, better for me, mounting only SRM4s, that have the perfect balance spread/dmg, and using it to get a little more ammo for both weapon systems:
