Just saying IS LL 450+50=500/1,000 range so (fill in blanks) you clan cERML cheapskates. There's no IS ERLL one currently anyway. Nailed two mechs with my TBR in one match last night that were dancing just outside the 270m range of my SRM's and hadn't anticipated receiving 24 SRM 6's to the head/CT at 285-295. Of course my sextuple cERML backup also has range extension so nice to see it say 300/500 next to all my armament.
But you have no problem with my identically armed but more heavily armoured quad SRM6, sextuple medium laser Stalker 3F?
Now you're being picky as don Zappo was referencing my secondary armament on that mech... in an era when clan tech didn't exist. I still remember the non stop whining when people died to that mech... remarkably similar to the current anti-clan complaining now I think about it. I personally think clan technology need to be tweaked down slightly but then I'd be honest enough to say the same about the ridiculous Awesome quirks or the IS point damage autocannons. I'd personally add Embers to that list. An awful lot of clan mechs are redundant as it is so if you want to bring things much closer you need to unfetter the restrictions on clans - can't have it both ways (I look forward to changing my engines and swapping ferro to endo). That said I've barely used clan mechs in a month....
Well it takes a lot to get me irritated about MWO but .... Possibly not for the reason of their incompetence but now compare the IS and Clan versions....
I was not excessively bothered by this until they posted the reasoning: http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/169895-clan-balance-update/page__pid__3688149#entry3688149 That is a fancy way of saying, "We know the real way to fix this, but we're too lazy to do it the right way." Damn software companies need to get some actual adults in charge who can call them on this crap and tell them to do it correctly.
Well some of the items are plain irritating in there for me - the structure clan nerfs.... The quirk pass is good though but lets be honest I'm irritated that I feel like there'll be no reason to take a clan mech after they're finished. Its already so one sided its painful - we only saw TBR's, DWF's and Kitfoxes in numbers this weekend as it was. The DWF's were hilarious as we just killed them so easily every time i tagged them but normally they're good. TBR's performed as always. Clever teams had kitfoxes OR Ravens. Of course those felt gelded as every match you had shit damage but they were great as utility mechs. Soon will we even want those mech's once TBR's have VTR's like clumsiness quirks?
That sort of thing is, in a way, the ultimate "fuck you" to the gaming community at large. It would have been better if they had just made the fix and never told anyone that the current 1.5 value was a mistake, since it would seem like a "de-nerf" instead. It's understandable to have a mistake in a patch (hey, sure, it happens), but that seems like something that could've been fixed pretty quickly, since they would only need a tiny hotfix patch to fix one value on one weapon. It really comes across as being pretty lazy, all things considered, and if it becomes a consistent thing, that's never good.
But how was it a discrepancy in the weapons file in the patch when it was in the post before hand, much discussed on the forums and then in the patch notes?
