Well we have energy range, heat, and PPC velocity quirks. Light PPC's don't have the punch, Snub PPC's are a possibility but... meh... so hey, why not try dual HPPC's? Nice HPPC pinpoint with sustainable heat. If pressed to close range you have some ability to create DPS with the MG's and ML's. Primarily though you are a secondary support fire mech. Stick with the team and amplify firepower with your 30 point pinpoint.
Thanks for posting this--really enjoy this build. I didn't want to run the typical ballistic spec and found I enjoy this one a lot. I dropped 1 DHS and 1/2 MG Ammo to make room for an AMS, as it runs cool enough still, and I've yet to run out of MG Ammo, while contributing to the anti-LRM umbrella.
I played this for a bit and enjoyed it, but eventually switched over to a dakka DPS build on my Black Widow. If you like this, I strongly suggest you also try a 4xERPPC WHM-IIC. Similar peak/support 'keep at arms length' playstyle that requires good PPC accuracy.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've actually shifted over to a CTF-3L running 2 HPPC + 3 ML over this one. I can hold 18 DHS w/ AMS. Pretty happy with it so far. I'm going to end up with a dakka build on the Black Widow at some point. It just feels wrong with my teenage infatuation with Miss Kerensky...
The other super fun IS PPC option is the Awesome 8Q, with either 3xERPPC + 3xMPL (STD300), or 3xHPPC + 3xML (LT300).
Actually my AWS-8Q is my favorite mech--I run 2xHPPC, 5xERML, AMS, 18 DHS. I tried using the quirk, but it just wasn't working for me. It's still one of only two mechs with -20% PPC heat. (AWS-8Q and the CDA-3F)
Other super fun PPC mechs: if you're an IS guy, the RFL-5D is a must. https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/?p=jsonbin1.5b67bba62878011e8d657835#s=Agility https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/?p=jsonbin1.5c329d827b31f426f8523992#s=Weapons _ https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/?p=jsonbin1.5c8530972e4731596f1c8f03#s=Weapons
