Dual ATM12 on the Spirit Bear seems like a no brainer to me. MASC on an assault helps with positioning and ATMs are all about positioning. Chuck in the cUAC10 for a secondary weapon, a light tag and AMS and we have a winner. If you don't care about AMS then it just swap it out for a CAP. Obligatory #brag screenshot...
Masc is nice and all, but I wonder if you could do a very similar or better build with less tonnage. Do you need 19 heat sinks? Then again, just nice to see a Kodiak in a game.
It seems almost every Kodiak build can be done better elsewhere. But the MASC advantage for assaults is clearly apparent in solo drops. Re DHS... yeah it would probably be a wise move to trade one for the CAP. Maybe another one for more ammo!
If you can bear without the AMS and manage fewer heat sinks, you can get some absolutely absurd firepower out of this. Get ferro and your 58 firepower could be 74. I think 19 DHS is too many. Since you've got a face time problem while aiming ATMs and some heat to burn, a HLL could be the trick. Fire it when you have spare heat or your UAC10 is jammed, don't fire it when you're running hot. Since 3 tons is probably too much UAC10 ammo (2.5 is good, 2 might be tolerable), you can switch that third ton for another ton of ATM, or an active probe which is probably essential.
I like the HLL idea but it would require a better pilot than me. There's no way I can walk and chew gum while patting my head and rubbing my belly.
Coincidentally I have a Cougar build that is ATMs plus heavy lasers and another Cougar build that is HLL plus UAC10 so I can say that these weapons probably work together as long as you can avoid dying from the excessive facetime. The thing that would put it over the edge for me with multitasking would be the MASC. However, MASC and ATMs are a good combination since ATMs benefit from fast, meter-precise repositioning.
How about using that CT missile slot? You could use a SSRM6 or.... You could throw in an LRM15 and just suck it up and take the extra ghost heat (5) instead of using more weapon groups or chain firing. The damage is spread out, but more damage per heat and it will help shield your ATMs against enemy AMS. Trial Run went well for a loss. Spoiler May have played a bit too aggressively, went down in the first half of the match.
Another alternative build using SSRM6. No ghost heat and has better synergy with the optimal ATM range...
