I've been trying hard to find that, but to no avail: how does one get the "Heat Efficiency" number shown in Mech Lab? I notice that none of our "Mech Lab" programs or spreadsheets do it (they have their own favorite measurements of heat goodness). I don't know if that is so because no one likes this number or because no one understands it. Disclaimer: I know there's a huge discussion behind how heat works in this game and it points out to "Heat Efficiency" being useless, but I'm still curious on how to calculate that. I've been messing with spreadsheets and would like to include that calculation, even if only to cross-check with what the MechLab is doing.
For me I just use the number in the in game mech lab. Whether the heat efficiency number is broken or not I find that usually the higher the number the cooler the mech runs so I actually do use it in factoring my mechs. Also I don't think any of the mech labs or spreadsheets out there take in to account the formula because I don't think anyone knows what it is exactly. I also think its supposed to change soon.
Yeah, but the problem is the heat is changing for the worse. When they first said something about finding a bug in the overall heat situation, I thought they meant some stuff was too hot. I was wrong. Apparently, some energy weapons have been running too cool and will now be brought back into line. My new small laser Jenner build won't be at 1.79 heat efficiency any more -- the small lasers are included in the heat changes.
I liked this post only because I haven't installed a Dislike option (yet) lol My Jenner will be nuked because of this too. Which is why I am trying to get in and grind out before the next patch come out. Personally, I think they did it just to spite me
Not only Small Lasers, but Small, Medium and Large Pulse Laser are affected as well. DHS will only count for 1.4 source
Yeah. I'm pissed. I'm going to do a thread in Suggestions about changing the name from Double Heat Sinks to Improved Heat Sinks, since they are nowhere near double the performance, and it's an insult to the TT DHS for them to carry the same name. At least with the name Improved Heat Sinks, you don't automatically assume they dissipate double the heat...
Normally I wouldn't support something like that but I tend to agree... Double implies x2 Improved implies some arbitrary number that they decide upon +1 for Improved.
