This is the loadout I'm currently using: Still getting used to it but I don't seem to be doing very well in it. Does this seem to be a decent build and I just need to get better at piloting it or is there something I can do different to make it more efficient?
What are you doing? Are you sitting in the back using your long range or are you going in the frontlines? Jagers are meant for support roles only not as brawlers. But regarding your build you don't need CASE when using a XL engine since there would be nowhere else for the explosion to go and also how the ammo is all in the torsos. Jagers have large torsos so you might end up losing all of your ammo if you get shot there, spread it around instead. If you still want UAC/5s, then try this. AC/5 One last thing, do you know how to spread the damage along you mech?
Mainly working in a support role. When I do wind up in serious trouble it's when I've pushed too far forward or been inadvertently pulled into a brawl. I know I need to work on my piloting skills in this mech. I've seen a lot of these running AC20s or even AC2s. Do those tend to work better in the support role rather than the UAC5?
Dunno about AC2s. I don't particularly like them, they are ok in some builds but I feel that you're carrying a bit more weight in ammo and equipment than they are really worth. AC20s I have in my Jager-S. Double AC20s, Double MLAS, Max armor, XL260 engine, 35 rounds of ammo. It's a do or die build. I run into enemies where a double from my AC20s hardly seems to leave a dent. And there are those who get blown out of their sox by a single volley. Also, AC20s are not really long range weapons - too easy that some of your precious shots go wild. One thing you learn in this crate: You don't dash into the fight - you're simply not fast enough. You make sure every shot hits home - you don't have any ammo for plinking away. You watch your heat - although those are ballistic weapons they get hot. The result is completely mixed. I got a 101 match score once, destroying half the enemy team when they foolishly left me unchecked, concentrating on damaged medium mech team mates instead. I also got a score of 0, dieing first by stupidly exposing myself first to focus fire (everybody seems to love to hate Jagers). The key thing is to try out what your mech can do well, play along those strengths, and don't get suckered into trying something you're not really loaded out for.
My thought process is on hit and run builds. Unless I am in my Atlas or Misery I do not usually go to the front lines. Most players seem easily distracted by all the red in early/mid game encounters. Not always of course so you have be able to hold ground, try and choose the hill to die on. Works both ways either they change focus to hit someone else, or they chase and don't see that team mate lining them up. Avoided Jaegers since I started, maybe too many on the field. Maybe due to the Dual AC/20s, not because I died to them so much, but the shots just sounded like K-K-R-A-A-A-F-T. Well, that was my excuse, lots of other Mechs to play with. I spent some C-bills on a DD. Played a few matches stock (why is stock armor so low!?). Stock builds seem to be something to try, and not something you stick with. With hit and run and support tactics in mind this is what I decided on: - Support (fit AMS, BAP whenever possible, high or max armor - every point is one more before they get to a team mate.) - Decent speed for Heavy (anything slower than 64 is painful for me) - Cool running (I'll take a sustained DPS of 10 and 57% cooling) - Long game (Use MLas for pressure and UAC for sure shots, Swiss cheese internals and intimidate lights with MG.)
This is basically the same build like "JM6-DD Help (2x UAC5, 2x MLas, 4x MG, AMS)" with only some little personal preferences. You should post your build in that thread. About your config: why go FF if ES is so much better in this case? You could bump up the engine and have some more UAC.ammo.
Yikes! My apologies, missed it was trying to be careful about creating new posts with similar existing builds. I built it with things on hand, and since the DD came with FF and standard structure I had not changed it. What is best in this case should I delete thread?
mergeception The engines were different in some of them but the weapons loadout was the same so I merged them.
