PGI announced the 2017 annual rewards for paying customers. I am not that impressed (Urbanmech? Kit Fox?...), but I am already thinking about building both the Griffin and the Linebacker, though. I had the same thoughts. Urbanmech: meh. I'll probably keep or use it in pugs just4fun. Urby and King Crab are the only 2 mech's I have ever sold and never bought back. Griffin: that's interesting... MOAR money in IS scouting! Kit Fox: nope. I'm already not very happy about the purifier, unless it does have some crazy hardpoints it's probably useless Victor: dunno. I could actually need a 80 tons assault, maybe it will fit in my IS FP lance Linebacker: that's interesting. Fast 'n heavy clan assault, it could replace my timberwolf EDIT: actually, after looking at the hardpoints and thinking about how to fit them... https://mwomercs.com/news/2017/09/1888-2017-mwo-annual-reward-mech-loadouts Urbanmech: ERMLs and MRMs maybe? Ugh... Griffin: 2xSNPPCs, 2xSRM6+A and 4xLMGs could be interesting Kit Fox: 2xcATMs and 2xHML/LL ... I'll probably swap omnipods anyway. Linebacker: With only 5 energy hardpoints I can't think of a decent build. So I will need to swap omnipods. Victor: It could be interesting. 3xLPL and 1xGauss seems the most obvious to me.
I'm getting the Urbie, Griffin and Kit Fox already because of my purchases. Considering to buy the Clan IIC HGN pack already for a while, the linebacker might pull me over the line. 2cHLL+3cERML with jumpjets and overall Linebacker speed+tankyness seems very interesting. The Victor is not interesting enough.
I bought the complete Origin pack when it was discounted a year ago or so... I still use some of them now, especially the one with the c-bill bonuses. As a HGN-IIC (standard, A and B variants) owner, I can tell you that they are kinda good, but not enough to justify their use over a Marauder IIC or a Mad Cat MK2, especially for the A and B variants. They have good structure quirks and the torso hardpoints are very high (so you will actually feel you are using a huge and tough assault mech, not like the MAD-IIC and MC-II which are shorter), but too few hardpoints and too much different from each other, plus the arm mounted weapons are basically useless if you try to poke from the top of a hill... Mine HGN-IIC "Ultimate edition" (1xcGauss, 3xcLPL, 2xJJ, TC6, cXL325) is actually my favourite of the 3, mainly because it does have a C-Bill Bonus, but also because it does have a very good range and damage application, especially in pug. The previous version (1xGauss + 3xERPPC) was extremely powerfull in faction play thanks to the extended range.
I'm mostly buying it for srm-heavy jenners, pokey deadly hbks which can mimic warhammer builds, brawly orions with atlas-level burst at 1.5 times their speed and the hgn + linebacker is not a big upgrade from there. Worst cast scenario I sell a few for bills and bays.
Just... DON'T. Spend your hard earned cash in something worth it = MKII & MAD IIC. Other than that, LBK and Huntsman Collectors served me well.
Jenners too squishy, hbks no fun, orions too clunky and hgn too bad? ;P I really want the lower tiers, getting the HGN on top of that with a bunch of premium time and goodies including a second linebacker seemed like a good deal to me. nvm, double the premium time from 2 collectors packs, and the mechs are overall worth more I suppose ^^ Reconsidering heavily
I was considering some cosmetic upgrades, so a free Urbie would be cool. I'd only run it "for the lolz," tho.
