Anyone have a good Gauss/energy skill tree build as I'm struggling to find one I'm happy with for my Night Gyr (FW Deck).
A premier example of the interaction of building the mech and skilling it. Focus on Cooldown, Range, and Heat Generation as well as the + ammo capacity and the prolonged gauss charge. Go for as much survival and agility as you like With a mid-range build like this you probably want all the speed tweak you can get. If doing 2x Gauss + ERPPC you can easily get away with 3/5 speed tweak, but probably want more points in survivability, skip the laser duration nodes and get generic CD nodes. You probably also don't need as much Heat Generation on a pure poptart. I went with double strikes in each one for strike-tarting here skill tree: https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/?p=046aa061-4ea0-11e7-ae4c-af007d172e45&s=Weapons revised build:
Not a take I've really looked at. Struggling to see the value of the charge nodes tbh, in fact if I don't take a shot I want that charge gone as fast as possible.
Ideally you charge before going out of cover, when you know there are targets. Charge nodes are dependent on if you need more time to line up your shot afterwards. At long range when there are no shots I guess the extra time before charging is less of a deal I guess. personally I don't take anything from the firepower tree for gauss. there's already plenty of range and velocity. Instead, maybe put more points in reinforced casing to protect gauss from exploding and make your mech tankier.
Yes you've rather caught my quandry here as my original build indeed had no firepower tree as this is my opener in FW. The problem was the ER ML.
mmh not sure if going deep for -Heat Gen is worth it, especially with cool main weapons. I'd just stay out of the firepower tree, if really pressing for some heat to support the ERML, invest 9 points in operations instead. Cooldown is less effective for gauss due to the charge time, so really the only reason to be there is heat gen for the lasers and laser duration while you're at it, which is both very expensive on the SP if you don't need the other things.
