So amazed to have not found this one here yet, I actually still believe this might be a duplicate. This is one of my favourite Nova builds. A little light on ammo, but very enjoyable (and effective) when the pilot has trigger control:

Why not four full tons of ammo instead of eight half tons? This isn't gauss ammo, which doesn't explode. Spreading it out like that makes it considerably more dangerous for no reason that I see.

Other than that, the idea of using two Ultra AC/5s is interesting, especially after the skill tree revamp.

The UACs worked wonders before the new skill tree, and even more so now. (more ammo, yummie)
On the ammo part, as per my understanding of the crit mechanics, each ammo has 10 hp and each component has equal chances of being critted. Adding more ammo components thus buffs your effective hp pool.

True, but each time ammo is destroyed there is a chance of an ammo explosion. I forget what the chance is, but I think it's about 10%? I'd have to agree that I wouldn't want to run the increased risk of an ammo explosion i the side torsos.

Exactly the reason to put them in half ton boxes. The same amount of ammo in more boxes. More overall hp + internal hits get assigned at random = less change of one actually exploding. ;)

That works fine with most weapons, but personally I don't want a Gauss/PPC/AC10/20 to have more opportunities to destroy me, though having more crit spaces can be beneficial. just personal preference. c:

It is a pretty nice build with the Nova's short profile, certainly unusual to see one doing anything other than laser boating. x3
I'll have to give it a go sometime.
