I like the mode but for quick play on large maps it becomes far to random. And honestly with this mode the mode Assault should be removed from the game. Damage done to vital base structures should count as normal damage, otherwise what's the point. And rewards need to be improved.
from what i've played so far i enjoy it, but returning it to the base is sometimes a little too far even when running 165 kph. it's nice to see lights get a bit more spotlight though
Has anyone made this experience too? Quote: "I'd say the base just dies too fast for tactics to matter. Load up on fast mechs with good dps and you can just ignore the reds. Every game of this i plated that wasn't on a big snow map where everyone just skirmished ended with a base rush and the winning team not even killing half the mechs"
Occasionally. The turrets need to be stronger so lights can't bum rush and you really need some in-shape assaults/heavies to destroy the base. Lights specifically equipped with long range weapons could still do work too if they find a safe way into the base in that case, but no more lights/mediums that rush down the whole thing with a few lasers and MG's/SRMs.
I just had a Match - we were losing 3:8... but us survivors managed to get into their base and destroy the cargo depots, while they tried to rush back to base from the big fat massacre but too late. Extremely close, but very frustrating for the Losers. Just pack some Small Pulse Lasers and SRMs in a speedy Light/Medium Mech and the base is Kaboom in no time
Yesterday I destroyed the entire enemy Grim Plexus base on my own in a Shadow Cat with 2cERML and a cUAC10. I'm not sure where the enemy team was, but we won 7/11. The raven 'guarding' it had 2 ERLL and didn't stand a chance against a skirmishing build, and the turrets couldn't even hit me under some circumstances. In other circumstances they were extremely easy to destroy. Really needs scarier defenses for such a large base, maybe increase the HP of the structures and improve ACT damage against them.
It's only been a week. I think players are still getting used to it. I had a couple of battles last night that were much more dynamic. Unfortunately, you still have players that want nothing other than skirmish.
I don't think you can compare it to Hawken, because Hawken has Respawn. Imagine the Hawken Game Modes without it.
The issue I have with Incursion, and most other game modes, is that they aren't grounded in a "real" battlefield. The whole thing just feels artificial, more like an arena game than an actual battle.
This is so so true. It really seems like the devs tried with Incursion, though. The walls were a great touch. What do you think should be added to incursion, other gamemodes, or MWO in general to make it feel more like a real battlefield? For example, I think Assault should also have turrets or at least walls
The whole "powering the towers" mechanic makes no sense from a realism standpoint. If I'm going to set up a base, even a mobile one, I don't bring a radar tower without a generator to power it. You transported all those walls and equipment but brought no power for your stuff? Come on. And then, there are huge power generators sitting in the middle of nowhere, hooked up to nothing. So you decided to set up your base 1km away so that the enemy can do the same. And you make your valuable combat troops carry batteries back and forth. It makes no sense. As for what I would change, probably not much. The game is clearly designed to be an arena game not a battlefield simulation. You'd have to tear the whole thing down and start over. I do think that Incursion makes Assault obsolete.
They're in this weird middle ground of semi-realistic environment, and non-realistic game modes. The FP modes are okay, but maps with a more 'arena' setting for QP would be better IMO. At least an announcer that makes us feel like this is a staged fight instead of a fake-tough 'soldier man 39534' cussing you out for not collecting enough resources without any context whatsoever, would make QP more enjoyable I think. Solaris VII maybe yes please finally we've been asking for at least several years now? With a no-group FFA deathmatch mode (which is finally not 'skirmish but now you can stand next to things')
