Idea here is simple. 4x LRM20 with plenty of ammo, TAG and BAP for ECM countering, and a single LPL as a backup "pistol" for short range (and a decent supplement at medium range). I would do 2 groups for the LRMs and alpha them by firing together, but you could have a separate alpha and chain group if you like.
How ist the Heat Management with only 12 Heatsinks? I had difficult Game with 4xLRM15 and 14 Heatsinks
Theoretical build, don't have one to try it. EDIT: However, I ran a Mad Dog with 5xLRM15 with no additional heat sinks than what comes in it, and ammo was a bigger problem than heat on that thing, so long as I didn't alpha. (Plus it had no backup weapons). 4x20 in chain fire should total 24 heat, or 32.93 heat in alpha 5x15 in chain fire is 25 heat, but I was firing group of 2 then 3 for 27.79 heat, an alpha is 39.42 heat. So the Mad Dog has higher heat values for pretty much everything and it was fine.
Yes you are right - as you suggest Split in two Weapongroups each with 2xLRM20, or Chainfire is the way to go with this Build. I just worry about too slow Heat Dissipation at high heatlevels. Personally i think 4xLRM15 is similar or even more effective due to Spread and Heatmanagement/Ammo
I would agree, if I wasn't trying to find a reasonable build with the maximum number of tubes possible.
I've seen someone running 4xLRM20+A on a Supernova. Maybe try that for the LOLs when Alphastrikes do severe Damage

Yeah it's possible, but this one can realistically do it with bonus features like TAG, BAP, a backup weapon...I'm forgetting something... Oh yeah. Armor and ammo.
