Max engine makes the Cataphract speed and torso twisting a dream. If you are looking at this and already making changes in your head, I ask that you try this as it is here before you "tweak" it.
Really weird you responded with that, a few hours after I made this post I actually did play around with the lasers. I am still evaluating the build for my own preferences, but so far I think that swapping the AC10 for an AC5 and going with 3 large lasers rather than 2 pulse is working very nicely. I especially like the longer duration of sustained fire (excellent for tearing up lighter mechs) and with them chained I can fire them with very little attention to heat management, if any. It's still the same principle, just a slightly different application. Machine guns by the way, I have on weapon group 6 and it's a toggle on/off with my mouse macro. Really nice to have those set on toggle since the ammo is more than ample. But back to the build I listed; It wasn't underpowered as I would get through most matches with 600+ dmg and generally had 2-3 kills on mechs I could get behind, and that was most mechs since the engine size is maxed. The alpha didn't ever overheat me and I usually shed the back armor in 1 hit, then the machine guns start getting crits against an unarmored section, and it's seconds before they're down. Anyway, like I said, it doesn't look that great on paper, but the combination is just working insanely well for me. But then again, I'm the crazy one that people don't talk about. The one who runs around the map with nothing but MGs and Flamers strapped to a JAG JM6-S while singing Metallica's Fuel (Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire, oooooh yeaheh)
Im impressed by this Brawler.Build. It has very high constant (Alpha)Firepower with decent Cooling. I load a Standard Engine to have a better Survivability. Full Stars!
I can't believe I'm agreeing with the Capellan, but Blagg brings up a good point. The weapon loadout screams brawler, but you've put a flanker engine into yours. Those arms, which only contain MGs, are built to take hits and protect your core. A STD engine will dramatically increase your survivability in a 'fract, and Blagg was able to pull it off without downgrading the engine below the stock rating. To, the question is, are you going to go flanker and swap the pulses for Larges or PPCs, or go brawler and move to a STD engine?
