Hi all, This is the second build that I've post and it admittedly feels a little odd but I've been having some success with it in QMs and I thought that I'd share it and let others judge me as either being onto something or just plain crazy. The idea behind it is to be a mobile platform that is effective against all targets in just about every situation that you might come across. Here's the smurfy: Group 1: 1xPPC Group 2: 1xPPC Group 3: LBX10 Group 4: 2xMPLas Originally, the build had ER-PPCs but they were causing too much heat to build up, so I switched to the standard ones, under the notion that anything that got close would either still be 90+ away, or would be in range to get hit with the MPLas and the LBX10 with full force. Now I know of a few ways to go differently off the top of my head if you want, like dropping a heat sink and adding jump jets, or changing out the PPCs for ER Large Lasers, and so on, I would have considered dropping the XL reactor but as I'm still new to the game, and C-Bills are pretty tight, I can't really afford to switch out to a STD with the other plans I have for new 'Mechs right now. :/ Anyway, what's yalls verdict?
1: You have ~1.5 tons left can probably use them to up your engine if nothing else. 2: Put those AMS ammo in your head. You rarely get headshot. This is not roleplay so the pilot's life is worth less than a ton of fucking narc ammo stuck inside the CT of a firestarter (FYI we do not have FS9-C yet). 3: rangewise, maybe LPL would fit this better. PS: For JJ, I assume you do not want it, but I think even 1 JJ is vast improvement in mobility. Since this build needs some work you can figure that out I think. Replacing some ammo for JJ is definitely an option.
In the spirit of @enileph's suggestion or JJ or JJ + Armour (since people try to leg these things often) This is the version I run. Edit: Sorry, actually this is the build I am running right now. Asymmetrical with a bigger engine.
Something like that. Was trying this. Also thinking of 4x SPL instead of 2x MPL, but that would be too big of a change. In case you want to keep your PPC you can still use this as a base, though it would be hot.
Some nice suggestions here that I'll have to try out, thanks for putting up with my being a rookie at this and having odd builds, lol.
