Does anyone have a feasible build with two LRM20s? I was wondering if it would work with, say, small lasers (pulse) for close range survival, but I don't have the c-bills to test it yet?
There is a catapult with a pair of LRM 20's and a pair of small lasers, the CPLT-C4. I have not tried it yet either but it has 4 missile hardpoints and 2 energy hardpoints. It could be pretty effective if it's got enough ammunition. I'm kinda curious how it does with four SRM-6's and a faster engine.
Not sure if it's viable but I have one built in my giant folder of variants: Personally, I'd use LRM15s but there is a certain charm and psychological impact when the enemy sees the sky filled with 40 missiles all at once. If a good Jenner pilot with a good 'Mech build closes distance with you, nothing will save you short of a lucky shot from a dual gauss or SSRMs. Even then a smart Jenner will hug your 'Mech so the SSRMs don't work properly or lag shield the Gauss Rifle by bumping into you causing it to rubber band all over the place. Those small lasers are just for show, it'll scratch the paint but you'll need someone to come back and help you.
Looks like a sound build, maybe I'll field test it! Thanks Is this image (of your build) generated by MWO Stat Lab? How? (I see an export button there, but have no idea of where it's sending the file, if any)
LaznAzn means he uses spreadsheets like a mofo! That is a spreadsheet mechlab he's put together for his personal use.
I have found the SRM-6's hard to use as they do not lock on and are hard to hit moving targets. Also, they spread out so much that unless you are really close, some of the missles don't hit. I found myself doing much better with 4 SSRM-2's. I think you are missing the point. Dude wants to know about a machine with LRMs not close range streaks h34r:
Sorry, was replying to Kotori87's reply where he wondered about SRM-6's : There is a catapult with a pair of LRM 20's and a pair of small lasers, the CPLT-C4. A SRM-6 Cat is more of a brawler than anything else. Get up close and personal On Topic: The build that Lazn posted is pretty good. I used it a few times before the last wipe.
As Michael points out, it's my own custom 'Mech lab in excel. Does everything automatically for the most part, uses drop down menus or manual entry.
Yeah, while I was looking for it I found other of your posts explaining that and saying it's not for the public. Also, in this search I found this: EXCEL MECH LAB V1.71 (UPDATED 11/1) Your's is more neatly looking, but this one is public
CPLT-C4 Buck Shot Hmm I wander if this build is up for the job but still I'm not sure how it will go on a real fight but I think the armor is too low maybe one should settle with a LRM 10 and get artemis or something
Drop the Medium Pulses to Mediums and either drop to an XL250 or drop the AMS and put the rest into armor. I definitely would not take any armor off CT, side torsos or the arms on a Catapult - it's just suicidal.
CPLT-C4 if u wanna have a more accurate missiles I suggest replacing the other pulse medium laser with a Tag and either exchanging the engine to XL 300 or adding another double heatsink in the XL 285 CPLT-C4 CPLT-C4 Thanks for pointing it out for me Dwergi
CPLT-C4 or getting rid of ur pulse laser and going turbo but this will really get u in a bad position for ur close range defense not really advisable though
Does it have to be a C4? Haven't run this one yet, so its all in theory. XL usually equals suicide, but you are an LRM boat, chances are if they've made it to you and they aren't already torn apart, you are in trouble anyways. I dont find myself using Jump Jets often (not skilled / don't like) so I added a BAP for easier targeting. Tag is almost a must, especially in open field. Just my two cents from a fairly green mechwarrior
Well frankly ur design is quite sound specially if u have a good team this can be very deadly alot deadlier than any design given in this design in this tread but if ur going random problem is ur gonna land on a bad team so most of the design here is simply design here is simply to have limited close range ability until one of ur team mates notice u need help and decide to aide u it's just to buy more time.
CPLT-C4 This is the craziest LRM boat I can think of , barely practical slow and practically a sitting duck at close range the small laser is just there to humor you. If someone does get close to u ur practically dead unless he has the same build as u are so u can ping each other to death.
Red, the C4 has 20 missile tubes in the arms, all the others only have 15. This means that for a C1, you'll get LRM30 followed quickly by LRM10, whereas in the C4 you'll get a full LRM40 blast at once. It is a slight increase in DPS, but a huge increase in effectiveness against AMS or against mechs running for cover. In spite of the fact the C4 has this size of missile tubes, I would be very hesitant to use it as a LRM boat, primarily because of its lack of short-range capabilities. Assuming you have TAG equipped (which, if you don't, you're devoting 22 tons + ammo to a weapon that won't work against ECM-covered mechs), the best you could do for short-range is a MPL and a pair of SSRMs, and you're not going to have a whole lot of ammo (I run out of 720 on my LRM30 Treb pretty quick, this has less salvos). While it could do okay as an LRM40 boat, I feel the best use for this platform is a SRM heavy-hunter or a SSRM light-hunter. If you want to save a lot of tons and go for an LRM30 boat, the C1 is better.
