    Revised build:

This is how the build should have been in the beginning. Thread title edited accordingly.

This is the first iteration of the build. This is still very good, especially prior to leveling Speed Tweak, but after obtaining that skill I highly recommend switching to the one above.

Very basic build compared to the stock loadout. I swapped FF for Endo, added a SRM 6, upgraded the engine, added ammo and finally rearanged the armor. VoĆla, a nice skirmisher.

This thing excels when flanking an opposing team, harassing assaults left alone (PUG only) or in a brawl where some kind of cover is involved, preferably buildings.

    RANT ABOUT THE VARIANT
The build shown above sits at the sweet spot of speed, maneuverability and damage potential for this variant. Sadly enough, it also already nearly reached the upper end regarding the damage output without sacrificing the MASC, but which makes this variant unique among the Wolverines.

Without the MASC you could do something like Gauss + dual SRM 4 + MPLas @XL 280, but the 6R could do that as well, so nothing special left. Oh, the (L) version of this one lets us earn additional CBills, so there's at least a small incentive to use this variant at all.

However, this variant remains a rather disappointing one. The 7M (dual energy RA instead of dual ballistic) would have been a lot better.

I shaved off some Armor and dropped that 0.5t SRM Ammo, so to replace the ML for a Wub.

..but agreeing with you about the disappointment

I've tried this build, and I can't make the UAC/5 and SRMs work well together. I think the main problem is MASC, I can't justify the 3T required considering the loadout. I'm trialling dropping MASC, using SRM4s and STD engine but still its hard to make this variant work for me.

Well I said I couldn't make it work, but getting basics seems to have brought out the best in this mech. It's now my second favourite wolverine. I also think that utilising MASC is essential for getting into position and getting out of trouble quickly. It took me some time to start using it.

Here's one that ditches the UAC5 for a AC5 and gains more SRM ammo. Has the stock XL275 engine, 5xJJ and the MASC also.

And if you don't want to jump that high, ditch three JJs and you get this:

After playing around a bit I think this is the most reasonable build. If you really want 4x jump jets, you can ditch Artemis for standard SRMs. I don't think MASC adds enough utility to justify the weight.

I like it, but it looks a bit low on ammo. The XL 280 seems to be the more reasonable engine when mounting +A, as this allows to add one ton of ammo in whatever split you prefer. For example, I'd like to use at least 2.5 tons for two more or less quirked SRMs.

If you don't MASC mind as well use a 6R. Sure you might want to downgrade to AC5, but you get better missiles in the form of 3x SRM4.

    5/5,
Thanks for this loadout. It works very well as a skirmisher.

I had a lot of fun mastering this thing during the latest FP event, using it both in Scouting and in Invasion. I used a slight variant adding +A to SRM6 while dropping to a XL280 after acquiring Speed Tweak.

Thinking about this build, this probably is how the OP build should have been in the beginning. It's that good.

    5/5,
When the UAC5 quirks cooperate, I think I like this better than the similar AC10 version, making this my favorite build for the 7D. I dropped the SRM's down to non-Artemis SRM4's, for extra tonnage, less missile spread without Artemis, and the 3 second cool-down. I jacked the engine up to an XL300, and put in an AMS for the homies. I think is about as good as it gets for this variant.

I like how much this variant is disliked by a lot of people, especially because this build fails to disappoint me until today. Nevertheless I thought about a Civil War tech update for this variant which includes MRMs and an ERML and an XL300... but as this is a completely new build, I will put it into a new thread.

However, here's a small update made possible by the ammo nodes from the Skill Tree:
