I ran this build a couple of times and it is very satisfying. Fire the ERPPC upon guass release and they will hit very close in sync. The ERPPC is effected by the PPC quirks so that ERPPC is traveling at 1800 m/s and the Guass is traveling at 2400 m/s. At that speed, you can nail targets with the 40 point FLD alpha at ~1k meters no problem. Felt very good. The low mounted arm wasn't too much of an issue for this particular build and its play-style.

It's a nice alternative, but definitely not the point of this build. Other dual gauss builds are a lot more similar to the build you've suggested. Just an FYI for keeping threads related to the actual build in the OP. Or else we might as well just have one thread where we discuss why we run different builds ;) Please don't take offense, just keep in mind for future responses. You can post your impressions (that it suffers in close-range) without suggesting an entirely different build.

That said, it definitely isn't a build for close range engagements without significant cover to shoot from. This is one reason it's nice to have an ERPPC over a standard PPC, no minimum range. The other advantage of having all FLD, even up-close, is being able to torso twist and spread damage while you're waiting for the weapons to cooldown. Then aim well, fire, and resume torso twisting. Definitely not an ideal build for short range fighting, but it definitely has that advantage over lasers. Other than SRMs, there aren't a lot of truly viable "fire and forget" type mechs. Closest thing is the 2x ERPPC 1x Gauss Timberwolf builds.

My apologies, I somehow completely over looked enileph's "Perturabo" build. That would have been a better spot to post... his may be even better than mine TBH, haha. I was using your build with the ERPPC when I decided to tweak it, so I absent-mindedly posted here. It seemed similar enough to your original build, so I didn't want to start a new thread, but your're right as I deviated from the main theme of your loadout. Thanks for the heads up M8 ;)

I have a problem with this build... Ammo.
May need to shave some engine for some more Gauss ammo.
Also, ammo in ST to help crit pad a bit.

Probably, and oops! yeah, Ammo should definitely be in the ST. Fixed the linked build in the OP.

You could drop as low as an XL255 I suppose. I already do that on the BW 2Gauss+2ERLL build. Problem is the torso twisting at that point. BW gets better quirks for twisting so it's not as much of an issue. Probably somewhere in-between, like dropping to an XL 265 for 1t of ammo

50 ammo is probably a good point...that's all I carry in my dual-gauss DWF builds, and I rarely have issues with running out unless it's a 15 minute brawl.
