Hey guys, I experimented a bit with LRM playstyle on Assault mechs but I constantly got picked off by literally everybody. So I adjusted a bit and found myself a playstyle as a self-reliant assault missile boat which can defend itself when being pushed or flanked. If you want to fire deadly missile packs but also want some action have a look at that build! It brings some very good flexibility to the battlefield and you are useful at any point of the game. It is also nice to give your enemies these WTF moments when they try to underrun your LRM range and then are faced with even more missiles. Of course I did a little tutorial for you to share my insights: What do you think?
Personally think: 1) To make it effective you NEED BAP for LRM. 2) You need a bit more armor on the legs if you can help, it looks really thin, but understandable. I would do it by taking off a few DHS. It may look hot, but actually much better than what it may seem, since you mostly never fire LRM when you are using the SRM+ML combo. Kinda like this, AMS optional but I like it, if not you can get another DHS instead.
This is an interesting build. I only have 1 stalker that I never use, but this may be an Assault that I could run effectively.
Your build also seems interesting. It looks a bit more like a behind the lines LRM-Boat. I will try this one, although I have to be very careful with my trigger finger Looks hot like hell. I actually mounted a Beagle and 2xSRM4s in my first version of that. But I found myself more comfortable with the additional firepower so I dropped the Beagle and put the 6er tubes into it. This first version looked like that:
Drop DHS or armor or ammo, but KEEP the BAP. In this game the decreased lock time helps LRM alot. Especially due to server instability you want the lock to be fast.
I'd also replace one of the MLas with a TAG. Helps your LRMs immensely and your close range capabilities are more than enough with the SRMs and 3 MLas.
