Not what I would run, but not too bad really. I would drop the AC5 and get some lasers and DHS instead, but each to their own...

EDIT: Oh shit... that was a KGC... nevermind. *sigh*.
But yeah, as a jager it may be ok, better if a Rifleman or Firebrand I assume.
I would kick it up like this instead of AC5 though.

Despite being a member of an active Clan Ghost Bear force, I've been dropping with a group of novices that I guided into MWO - one of 'em picked himself up the Hunchback IIC pack, another one bought himself a few hero and Champion mechs, and the rest keep asking me to buy them Archer packages (which are more expensive for me than they are for them, because I'm in Australia while they're in the US!)

Anywho, this is just the intro to a few more cringe builds I've come across while running in group queue with my Tier 5 buddies... all of whom know better than to create these monstroisities (Except for that one guy who wanted to make an LRM boat King Crab because one came with Artemis...)

Anywho, feel free to guess away!

This one isn't too bad... in the sense of "he's a light mech running LRMs". My concern is how much ammo he would have had to fill up his weight on that setup.

    What I'm guessing:

This one... I have very little to say to explain how I felt to see a Firestarter shooting Flamers early in the game. Mostly, I just laughed and passed it off to some TT player trying to burn down Forest Colony. Then I died, and I saw his build. Can't quite remember his top speed, but it very clearly was not over 100kph.

    My guess:

The scary part is that he also has no JJ!
Speaking of which... does flamers clear plants? May be fun to try... though stomping on trees are super joyful!

Unfortunately, I can say for sure that the Flamer does not remove trees. I still have the CT-mounted Flamer in my Adders, and I've tried. I think I understand PGI's logic for it, though. If a Flamer removed plants, they'd have to add a burning animation, and then people would want to create localized brushfires by using Flamers to ignite plants and generate heat in the enemy to force them into choke points. Besides, lasers don't do it. As much as I'd love the ability to burn down parts of maps, I'd prefer switchable ammunition types for missiles and ballistics, airdropped minefields, etc.

Also, how'd I miss the lack of jump jets? That just makes it even more of a cringe, as he can't poptart with the PPC like a Panther. I don't personally pilot Firestarters, but I do use Arctic Cheetah, and while the PPC/backup energy weapon idea works for me... I'd rather a pair of Small Pulse or Medium Lasers. ACH does it better anyway, since ECM + PPC + 2xERSL is a really fun Spider-esque build.

I witnessed these the other day, on the enemy team, while I know the weapon loadout, the engines are a guess based on observation.
The Atlas was average in speed and never lost a torso, whereas the awesome was slow as dirt and died the second it lost a side torso.
Saddest thing is, we lost >_>.

I did do something similar to that awesome build, but that was on a Mauler, and no TAG.

Swap them around and you get decent builds really, 4x PPC Awesome is ok due to quirks, and 6x LPL Atlas would kind of work actually.

    On Gneckes31 post.
That raven seem ok really, esp with quirks, and no ghostheat.

Same goes for the timberwolf (though not a great build), sure he could have added 1-2 ML (or 1x ERLL with stripped arms) but the 2x UAC10 + ammo takes up most of the tonnage

Pretty sure I've seen a 6x LPL Boar's Head before. Don't remember how well it did, but I'm fairly sure that it would probably be one of the better Atlas builds in the current LPL metagame. On an Awesome... The build isn't really too cringe-worthy in my eyes. Looks like a support partner for an LRM carrier - he TAGs targets and helps whittle them down for his LRM buddy.

The 4x ER PPC Atlas... There was a time when I would consider running that. Hell, I still would. But at the same time... Other mechs do it better. Simple as that.

Also, @Gneckes31 - What is with players using Timber Wolves with just two 10-grade autocannons? The Timber Sneeze I posted on a previous page used twin LB10X, and now you've posted a twin UAC10 build. Am I missing something? Should I go regun my 2x UAC5/3x ERML Timber Wolf for 2x UAC10 and maybe some ER Smalls?

You mean either like this or with more ammo?

I regularly run my TBR with 2x cUAC10, 3x cERMLas, 2x JJ, 3 tons of ammo. Its a killer. Not much ammo, but for a PUG skirmisher, it wrecks.

If only I could get it into a PRIME.

When I checked out the Raven, the only way I saw to get the required 10 Heatsinks, 3 LL and AMS was with a XL170, and that's awfully slow for a Raven. I didn't think about stripping armor tho. :banghead:

It's even a great build! Used in competitive games and all.
I personally prefer the 2 LLas + 2 MLas version (faster and cooler), but 3 LLas works wonderfully.

I don't like Ravens. I have never liked Ravens. I refuse to pilot them unless we can run them with no weapons in a Capture-the-Flag style mode. Call me biased, but eh, I just don't see the appeal in trying to stand still and snipe with weapons that illuminate your position while using a somewhat squishy mech, and most Ravens I see do just that. Not all of them any more, thankfully, but most.

That being said, there are worse builds out there than 3x LLas. In fact, it would be a high damage build, just not one suited to most low tier pilots. Seriously, I saw a pilot running a 4X with 2 LPL. He told everybody he was running the max tier cooldown and range modules, and damn did it show, pretty sure he broke 1k damage without consumables.

Saw this one last night... sorry no screenshot, didn't upload them yet but my best guess.
    CatAtlas??

I shadowed him for a bit in my 4SP until I realized he was just going to hang back and lob missles.

@SkiDog I sense a great Steam Disturbance in that Pilot.
