    Sniper Mech, named after
Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) <---That's a Link Lad!

The usage of this mech relies mainly on keeping the left torso fully functional. The left arm can shield, the right arm can be sacrificed with little "major" loss, and loss of the right torso removes just 1 heat sink from the equation. The lack of CT mounted holdout weapons does leave argument for installation of an XL, but as XL loss subtracts 20% speed that could be used to hightail it out of there...the risk is...debatable. However, a weaponless CT mech is still capable of body blocking, and being an annoying basta...hem...barrier.
Simple(Personally I think its better) modification that shunts all major heatsinks to one side.

And if you HAVE to use XL...this build should work fine. It does have the bonus of a Tac7 though.

I would use the 325XL, as it is clan tech you can still fight after you've lost one of your ST. It will also give you another 11 tones to play with.

The extra 11 tons is kind of wasted, though... With available slots, you'd have to drop to Standard armor just to open up room (and waste some tonnage) then you get some close range protection (SRM6+A) and a TC?

Not really worth it in my opinion with the focus of this build. Keep it cheap and keep the STD toughness.

The point of this mech is to allow for the usage of ERLL cooldown mods, and have enough heatsinks and tankery in order to keep them firing. It's goal is long range sniping, especially effective in CW. Also, I don't like mixing SRMs into a long range build.

You were kinda joking, but the TC7 XL build is actually pretty effective.

The 2300m/s Gauss really feels great, and the crit boost has me blowing up ammo a lot.

With the upcoming TC buff, it may get even better.

I'm just mildly biased against XLs after the nerfs...I still miss my non shit heatsinks

TC7 projectile speed boost is increased to 35% (was 15%) in the next patch. Is my Gauss hitscan now? Lol.

    ~Nice.

    - Always pad your gauss, wouldn't want that thing going up in flames, would we?

Going to try out this hitscan HGN as soon as I can get in game.

IMHO this is the most interesting build you posted.
    • Huge TC? Checked
    • Cooling efficiency? Checked
    • Long range weapons and capabilities? Checked
I definitively have to try this build. With a TC7 and range modules, those cERLL will have an optimal range of around 860 meters: absolutely crazy. The only thing is missing is the speed and acceleration needed for peeking, but any highlander can't do it properly (IMHO they feel very slow), plus they can't mount all weapons on one side like many other mechs).

Anyway, that TC7 is the very reason why I would prefer a cXL over a STD engine: in the right maps, if you can manage to kite / snipe at ~1 km (like in boreal vault or alpine peaks), you are nearly unstoppable and IS mech's will have a very hard time taking you down (unless they have LRM boats, but your AMS will prove usefull to further mitigate incoming damage). Plus, you can still hit and deal damage to poptarts because lasers hit instantly your target...
