With the 50% off Hero mech sale coming up I'm trying to decide which Hero to buy. I've recently been buying a hero when levelling a chassis to get three. It seems that most chassis have two good variants and sometimes the Hero is decent. I don't have many Hero mechs, I have Locust, Griffin, Stalker Heroes so does anyone have any suggestions of which one might be worth buying. I've already levelled Jenners, Thunderbolts, Shadowhawks, Victors, Ravens, Centurions, Stalkers, Hunchbacks, Banshees, Cataphracts, Locusts, Griffins, Wolverines, and Cicadas. It would be nice to start a new chassis and I was thinking the Firebrand would be a good option, or the Ember, or the Arrow which all seem like solid chassis with good Hero mech options. I would be interested to know what other MechSpecers thought. Cheers.
A lot is to be said on choosing a hero mech now that the rebalancing is just around the corner. But that taken aside, The Misery will always be a decent mech imo. High placed energy combined with a ballistic weapon and STK armor The Sparky is an awesome laservomit medium. The Pirates' Bane,... well its a Locust. Difficult but rewarding when mastered. As a closing note, the Arrow used to be one of my favourite mediums. But in the current state of the game its just a waste of MC,...
Honestly, get the freakin' Death's Knell. New Commando hitboxes are super awesome, and it will get even better with the rebalancing pass. Also IMHO it is the best mech to practice accurate laser pinpoint mayhem. It runs 170. It's much more durable than a locust. It's tiny. People underestimate it. etc etc Get Sporky as well. Very good 'mech overall and of course it can tank lie a beast (well, for a 55 tonner) when handled properly. You might also want to get the Gray Death. Shadow hawks are going to be sweet again. Muromets. Again, the new crataphract hitboxes are awesome and nothing is as awesome as going ham in this baby with 3 uac5. PS: The Misery is perhaps the best of them all. LPL, 4MPLAS and one AC20 = pwnage
Well I got the Firebrand and it seems like a fine chassis. I already have levelled the other cataphracts so Ilya wasn't an option, and I already have the Misery. Thanks your your suggestions. I managed to basic all three Jagermech chassis in one 2 hour sitting, thanks to the XP bonus and Premium time. It's a great time to get into a new chassis.
I second the Sparky as one of the best Hero Mechs currently available. 5 ML + 1 LPL @ more than 100 kph, JJs and a heat efficiency of 1.35 (MWO mechlab) will be very viable even after the Dezember 1 patch. Adding the 2N as one of the best IS SRM brawlers on top and you already got 2/3 covered. The 3rd variant depends on personal preference.
Ilya. Srsly. 3x UACs, 3x LBX, 3x AWESOME! Ember, Sparks, and Arrow are all solid chassis as well. Blackjacks are my true love, so the Arrow (with bitchin' metallic paint job) is where it's at in my book.
Maybe I hould buy a Ilya.... But I think I will just bite it and refit my current one instead. Kind of want to try retry the LBX build with the new changes.
Just a side note, the Arrow is getting some very nice buffs, as is the Boar's Head in tomorrow's patch. It will make them worth consideration again.
Triple LBX is just hilarious fun. Plus, with ammo taking less weight now and the spread being tighter than the last time I played the build (over a year) it should kick even more ass. I'm thinking 90 rounds and 3x SLas... I'll always remember the UMAD match when Mason came over comms and said something to the tune of, "Damn! That LBX finishing power!" I just giggled away with my shotfuns.
