The notes: http://mwomercs.com/news/2015/11/1403-rebalance-pts-4 My feedback: Don't know how I feel about Speed Tweak losing some steam...would be nice if it was still the 10% for light mechs, who really need that speed to survive in a lot of cases. Losing even 2.5% is big to a light, but we'll see how it goes. Lots of weapon and equipment changes that need testing, but a lot of it looks like it will be a good thing at a glance. The biggest change is... The Quirks: https://mwomercs.com/static/downloads/PTS4 IS Quirk Values.pdf My feedback: WOW! Lots of good changes here. Some things I noticed were the Jenners getting a nice boost which will hopefully let them compete better with Cheetahs and Firestarters despite their hitboxes; the Ravens and Locusts also kept good quirks in the light bracket, as did the Firestarter itself. Except for the Ember, its quirks still seem to be a bit lacking, but it's always been a solid mech even without quirks, so it should be fine. In mediums, there's a lot of good there, but the WVR-6K will probably not survive with its current builds in the live game - it lost a LOT of heat generation efficiency, and that means you'll need to scale back to keep from overheating. In heavies, the DRG-1N finally took a hit, but still has 30% cooldown speed before module, so it should still do alright. The big one here, personally, was the GHR changes. One of my favorite mechs to pilot in this game got a HUGE boost to ability in the PTS, and although a lot of people malign it, it has always been one of my best mechs. I will be even more dangerous in those things now For assaults, I'm not really the best judge (I tend towards lighter, more agile mechs), but the changes there look overall positive.
I agree this looks very promising. Instead of pushing infotech with brute force they first try to balance the game and make it slower paced, and manipulate weapon values too. Also, the incoming hitbox adjustments are needed and make sense. Looking forward to testing this! PS - Grasshoppper might be the new "best" IS heavy and deservedly so. It already is very powerful on live and I never understood why we rarely see them in combat.
Well, they should know that info warfare would not work on pugs, which is the majority players. Slower paced game can mean less cbills though, not sure if that is good.
What makes you think that isn't part of the plan? Fewer c-bills means more impatient players buying/spending MC
they are going to raise rewards overall and significantly for assault & conquest (for actually capping), so your argument is invalid
Sad ( Real Sad) for zeus ... Happy for Grasshopper who will be the next Thunderbolt of the IS ... let's see
That would only affect new players though, and may not br good for steam launch. I am sure many of us have like a billion cbills stacked up for no reason at all. I ean most of us are way past "richer than wayne" status now.
Ballistic Cooldown +25% on the SHD 2H! Finally I might be able to use the SHD again, with this classic build if it will be confirmed(especially with the nerf of the dragon and wolvie, this will be the highest DPS dakka in the 55-60ton range): And also the TOP DOG would be amazing if confirmed, armor of an assault, with great agility and standard engine, with 9 ML with 351m range! I would get it, do this build: and never look back
It's not mentioned in the notes, but Russ has been saying for a couple weeks now that higher rewards will be hitting the game (starting on Tuesday's patch), so overall cbill and xp earning should be higher across the board by the time Steam launch hits.
I have 65 mechs, but only 4 or 5 are ready (fitted with modules and engines) and I have been saving for the last week or so and now I got 25m c-bills.. which will go poof just to get the additional seismic / radarderp modules I need to get another 3 mechs "battle ready", so yeah the grind is real
I have around 10 mechs in full module conditions usually, in addition to the set for CW if I am playing that (which is rare) Usually I have a few more with engine and in battle condotion though, since I hate modules and woud rather do without them in pugs.
I remain by my longstanding point that MWO is one of the least grindy F2P games I know. The sheer amount of mechs and modules however makes it feel like a bigger grind. You can however define a path to whatever mech you want and get that one relatively quick. Compare that to any of the 'World of' games and see how long it takes you to get a tier X vehicle. Or look at Warframe and see how long you have to farm to get a golden frame,... I have enough modules to fit 4 mechs and that is it. I switch the mods all the time. You can do the same with weapons and engines (which I don't as I'm lazy) so the grind is realy not 'that' bad.
yeah it's merely about convenience (changing mosules wouldn#t be such a pain in the ass if it didn't take like 20 seconds to save in mechlab) for comparison: To get from Tier 9 to a Tier 10 tank in Wurl of Tonks, you need about 100-200 games in one single vehicle, and the matches in WoT are much longer as well. To get a T10 tank which usually costs about 6mil, do the math: with a 50dollar premium tank, you make about 70.000 credits each game (and that's a GOOD game). Yes, for ONE tier 10 tank. So Zot is right, technically MWO is not grindy, t is NOT p2w (well let's forget about the Invasion phase last year), and generally has MUCH less bugs than wot. People just love to bitch about everything
MWO: 3 days of prem nets me my second to last direwolf and the 4th Ebon Jaguar WoT: CW/Tournament Season: 1 year of prem($99.99), 25k gold($99.99), and 10 prem tanks ($400+ collectively), ALLOWS me to get from T1 to T10 in 14 days Offseason: No prem, 1k gold (about 8 bucks), and 10 prem tanks ($400+ collectively), "FORCES" me to spend 2-3 months grinding T1-T10 Even though MWO kills my lorebonerknowledge/heart/childhood/brain I am FAR more willing to pay for it, since at least PGI isn't as money hungry...Though I still fantasize about knocking Russ Bullocks out with a copy of TRO 3050, 55, 60, and 67 wrapped with RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
Blackjacks, Jenners, Shadowhawks, Kintaros, AND VICTORS ALL GETTING LOVE?????? What is this? Christmas???
Clans are getting even more nerfs though...and if this continues, clans will be giant teddy bears slapping IS mechs with pillows while getting destroyed by over quirked, specialized IS mechs. And it really irks me when I drop in an organized CW group, and we win due to planning and good calling, and the other team constantly screams that we only won because our clan mechs are OP, and that we really have no skill.
