Well this is the first time I've been concerned about player numbers but last night (8:30pm Australian time) the playerbase must have been at the lowest I have ever seen. Wait times were close to 10 minutes and even if I chose lights or mediums the wait time was high. I was also playing against people who I had never seen before and I did not enjoy it. Community warfare was at normal levels, (only a couple of 12 mans versus pugs), and I didn't try the group queue. I haven't ever been too worried about how many people played MWO until now. I can only assume this is due to the new map voting system which is driving people away from the Solo Queue. Has anyone else noticed this?
yep. about the same waiting time or slightly worse than before the "patch", and the match quality is atrocious. Many stomps, so horrible, much whow. I guess the voting system had some impact. I can only guess but since I have started my "statistics project" the numbers are pretty consistent over 200+ games: 53% skirmish, about 33% assault games. Map variety is poor too (HPG, tourmaline and canyon are the top maps). My guess is that this is driving players away because it is just soo boooring. also notice how ppl in the forums and Russ are already trying to find "solutions" by suggesting "quirks" for the voting system to make conquest more attractive via cbill bonus and forcing less popular maps to show up more often in the voting screen. Yay, quirk the flaws away! It's quite ridiculous
This is what you get when you don't listen to the REAL community, but only a sub set of ppl who are too busy to bury their noses up the developers ass, then taking this subsect as testers and wonder why the community reports so meany bugs.. This is what you get when you time and time again make completely flawed changes to the game dynamics instead of resetting them and going back to the drawing board. Its especially frustrating when they just pile on these flawed ideas on the game, when most ppl are saying stop. PGI has been for the longest time a ostrich with its head buried so deep in the ground it don't know what way is up. I agree with this, those ppl playing only skirmish play it for a reason, the players playing conquest only play that because that's what they want to play. Forcing them to vote with others who wants to play other game modes will only make them walk away in the end. Let the groups and CWF vote, forcing it on ppl who wants to play a few games alone is foolish.
letting the group queue keep the voting system has one problem though: 12m groups will 100% dictate what is going to be played, on their terms.
A slight modification then, only each group leader can vote. That takes the 12 mans out of the equation.
